He is beyond redemption. I hope the story moves past his character. I am tired of his obsession. I have had enough…
It's normal to be tired, in real life, none of US would stand such a freak. The issue I wanted to raise up is different: what options such an abondened child had in his life? It's nobody's fault, Ruyi could have not played all the roles. Imho, he truly misses a father figure
LTG is a shakesperean (or dostoevskijan) character. No "normal" person "was there or done that". We, "the normals" don't share their pain, ie. the intrinsic tragedy of their existance. The empress tasked Ruyi (then also in her teens) with "mission impossible": teach him martial arts and how to be a man. Ruyi took upon herself the first part of that order, the second was out of her reach, she might have been a (missing) motherly figure, but no way she could have been a substitute for a figure of father (she also didn't have, her father actually sold her). Wether LTG is redeemable or not depends on the scriptwriter: either case will be understandable. If freudian "father figure" jumps in, teaching him a lesson or two (your "mother" is "my woman") he will. If not, it's also fine, we've got a new tragic character
