I want to ask you all, for each main character, what is their "fatal flaw"?
I have some idea but I'm not so sure:
Non and White : Naiveness Fluke : Egoism Top : Cowardness (running away from accountability) Jin : Being sloth (not doing what he should do) Por : Entitlement Tee : Lack of agency (?) Tan : Self-centred (?) Phee : Regretfulness (?)
I'm not sure about them. What do you think? Let me hear your opinion! :D
Jin is marketed as one of the two main leads (along with Phee). Having the main lead not have a solid backstory…
I think you hit the point: they did a marketing mistake. Because this series is not about Phee and Jin. It's about Non and Tan, the real pillars of the story. Without them, the story doesn't exist XDXD
To all the people who are complaining about the absence of Jin's back story, I want to ask you:
in what way it would have pushed forward the plot?
If a back story doesn't do that, then there's no point to showing it to begin with, it's just filler stuff.
Top, Fluke, Por, Jin and White's back story is useless for moving forward the plot, so it's not shown. On the other hand, Non, Tee, Phee and Tan's back story is very much needed for that, in my opinion.
I don't think it's a revenge story or else they are all gonna die because every one is bad in their own way.someone…
I think revenge doesn't necessarily mean everybody dies in the end.
Revenge is "the action of hurting or harming someone in return for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands". Killing is only one way to accomplish it, and it's not sure yet if Tan's plan will be successful :D
I think someone will survive. I bet someone between Phee, Jin, Tee, White. But we'll see next week! :D
Ep 11 was not "Tee's redemption arc". According to google, redemption is "an act of redeeming or atoning for a fault or mistake". Where was that in this ep? NOWHERE. (Some can say he tried but it was not enough). Tee can redeem himself by going to the police, confessing everything (including his uncle's crime) and going to jail.
HOWEVER, this ep is an "overcoming guilt arc". Tee acknowledged his wrong doings and then couldn't move on because of guilt. White doesn't redeem Tee. He makes him overcome his guilt and makes him want to be a better person, but Tee fails again. Why? Because he remains friend with the group and momentarily abandons White after the uncle gets decapitated in ep 2 (or 3? I don't recall it, sorry).
Tee is redeemable, but not redeemed yet.
Tee, like Non and Tan, is one of the best written character in this show.
Now, feel free to call me a Tee apologist. Because I am! XDXD
I think people just don't understand the genre of the show.
It's a REVENGE story. If the ones you're going after are all saints, then why seeking revenge? The group of friends being horrible people is a must for this plot. Without it, you don't have a story!
This is NOT an average GMMTV romcom where you can easily divide the good from the evil.
I am a TeeWhite fan, but I have no problem saying that Tee must go to jail ASAP. And if the last ep he dies or suicides, I'll be ok with that because it makes sense.
And to all the Non and Tan's fans, please just chill. It's true they are the one whose life was ruined the most, but they are not saints as well.
They are all GREY characters and I love every single one of them (only in fiction of course).
I knew they were going to try to redeem Tee a little bit, because he is tecnically the second couple lead in the next ep (and if he gets killed, it would be in the last ep).
FINALLY I'll get the TeeWhite back story!!! As a JjFuaiz fan, I'm thrilled!!!
Also, when will we get a MioBump main lead in a sereis? I'm so impressed by their improvement since The Hidden Character!

I think they could have added Jin's back story in ep 9 (at the same time to Tan's back story). A very sad missed opportunity.

I can agree the writing is not perfect, tho. XDXD
