When LMT left him he couldn't chase after her because of his military duties. But instead, he sent his men to spy on her to make sure that she didn't marry anyone. When Prince Sui sent goons to kidnap her for marriage, he marched his army to her doorstep and slaughtered them and then told Prince Sui to never try that shit again because his army already has the city surrounded.
Excerpt from the novel: "Miantang was stunned for a moment and suddenly thought that he had said that if she found another man, she wouldn’t blame him for bringing thousands of troops to settle the accounts. This madness…… He took it seriously…
More than twenty people sent by Prince Sui died thoroughly. Liu Pei is shocked and angry!
What’s more, the State of Xi and the surrounding villages and counties are now surrounded by thousands of troops. Even outside his residence, there is a group of soldiers in iron armor."
When LMT was still hesitating to sign the marriage certificate, CXZ knew that his woman was whipped for him too so he took her to her bed.
Excerpt from the novel: Lord Li was in a hurry. His back was soaked. He did not rush to see The Prince when he entered the house. Instead, he took out a neatly folded white gown from the donkey’s back bag and changed it into a clean and fresh one. Then he entered the hall and waited for The Prince and Lady Liu to sign the marriage certificate.
After all, he is the guarantor of the marriage certificate, and he should always dress neatly.
Miantang thought Cui Xingzhou was joking, but unexpectedly, he asked Lord Li to send the marriage certificate. At the same time, she said angrily, “Have I agreed to sign the marriage certificate? You are not going to force me when you call people here!”
Cui Xingzhou put a gold hairpin in her hair and said in a long tone, “Didn’t you… Agreed last night.”
Miantang blinked in disbelief, unable to remember that she had ever answered him. So Cui Xingzhou put his thin lips close to her ears and said something low.
Miantang’s cheeks seemed to have been smoked by the heat, and they turned blushing red. Last night, when two people were fooling around, Cui Xingzhou indeed used a method to force Miantang when she was immersed in the rounds, and she agreed to sign the marriage letter.
Drama producers: Nah, he's too much of a chad. Let's simp him up.
what's hard to guess? sure she has feelings but she's actively trying to NOT be in a relationship with the guy.…
Have you read this novel? In the novel, CXZ is an absolute beast.

It seems like these novels and drama are written and produced with very different demographics in mind. Anyone who enjoyed the novel would hate the drama.
Because of the terrible deviation from the novel, I have found myself re-reading the fall out of the leads and…
Well said. For the reasons you mentioned I had to drop this awful adaptation of a wonderful love story.
The novel version of LMT is far more compelling, showcasing her evolution through various phases:
The sweet, innocent LMT. The heartbroken LMT. The married LMT. Lu Wen. LMT with all her memories restored.
There was balance in their love. While CXZ repeatedly lied to LMT for fear of losing her, LMT kept her true identity hidden from him for the same reason. However, when CXZ discovered that LMT was Lu Wen, he bought her favorite street food rather than serving her a divorce letter, as she had feared.
Later, after Lu Wen regained her memories, she chose not to return to Ziyu because she realized that CXZ's love had loved every version of her, even the one that was hostile toward him. Unfortunately, the drama adaptation took this beautiful and intricate love story and reduced it to a cliché of the SIMP ML repeatedly chasing after the FL. In the novel, CXZ missed LMT but he was always confident in his ability to return her to his side. But his military duties got in the way.
I would've given this a solid 9/10 if it wasn't for the stupid unnecessary breakup at the end. But this is a solid 8.5/10. Can anyone recommend any other slow burns like this one where two broken people slowly heal each other while falling in love?
Oh, the groveling and simping is only getting started. They turned LMT into a cold-blooded blood-thirsty woman,…
Everything about that cave scene and drama is overdramatized. They ruined LMT's character I guess b. they wantec to make her more interesting and more badass from her novel counterpart. But they ended up doing the opposite.
In the novel, LMT doesn't fully regain her memory until the very end, but she maintains her sense of agency throughout. CXZ deliberately keeps her in the dark, fearing he might lose her. When she eventually uncovers his deception, she leaves. However, once she discovers her true identity, she initially hides it from CXZ, afraid of losing him too. But when CXZ learns that LMT is actually Lu Wen, he loves her even more. So after regaining her memory as Lu Wen, she rejects Ziyu, having fallen in love with the man who accepted every part of who she is.
But the drama turned this wonderful love story into this revenge story where the FL only cares about revenge while the ML is whipped.
Oh, the groveling and simping is only getting started. They turned LMT into a cold-blooded blood-thirsty woman,…
In the novel she never gave Ziyu another look, even after regaining her memories. But the drama had to tease some stupid love triangle by having them spend some "quality" time together to make CXZ look like pathetic love-sick dog.
Oh, the groveling and simping is only getting started. They turned LMT into a cold-blooded blood-thirsty woman,…
I'm not annoyed at some of the creative changes regarding the plot. I'm annoyed at how they've butchered these characters. It's infuriating how much they've diluted the ML's character and turned the FL into this cold-hearted person who's only out for revenge.
ML: "For her not only Prince Sui, I can even fight with you"Here you go my boi, keep this up and you will soon…
Oh, the groveling and simping is only getting started. They turned LMT into a cold-blooded blood-thirsty woman, and CXZ into a passive love-sick puppy. In the novel, these characters are so different and so much better. These drama directors must be stopped. lol
she didn't stab him out of anger. he said, "you have that dagger of yours right? I lied to you and I should repay…
Spare me, you don't need to explain anything further—I understood you the first time. However, I still believe everything was overly dramatized, and the fallout doesn't match the genuinely loving and carefree relationship they had. You could have shared your opinion without the subtle personal insult.
Edit: You're still being a condescending asshole. I'm not sure why you're even pretending to apologize.
she didn't stab him out of anger. he said, "you have that dagger of yours right? I lied to you and I should repay…
She also literally threatened to set him on fire. The stabbing was unnecessary and over-dramatized. And him offering to repay his lies with his life was even dumber. Like dude, have some self-respect. You literally saved her life. She could've simply said her peace and walk away. You're free to like it, but I found it cheap and unearned. That doesn't make me a person who is not watching with my "brain firing on all cylinders", you pretentious asshole.
Yeah, they overdramatized the fire in the cave and hairpin scenes. At least the hairpin scene, they were by themselves.…
Many writers don't know how to write a strong female character without making her a Mary Sue or turning her into a sociopath. What they've done to LMT's character is a disgrace. That said, having her keep the hairpin is a nice touch. I have a feeling that even after being stabbed and stupidly offering that ungrateful woman his life, CXZ is the one who will do all the groveling and apologizing.
