And the screenwriter (Wang Juan) did a good job regarding the drama, a little bit twist that needed him 5 years of writing, still AMAZE me... And also, just info for the reader in this forum, S2 is a connector for the S3 too, that is why they directly make the S3 confirm after this S2 airs, we will not wait long for S3 to air... And that is maybe why S2 feels like a "hang", but not a conclusion...

Don't worry too much friend, people will judge no matter what they see... it's their "right" to judge, but a good drama will always be recognized no matter what... the scale difficulties of acts... the good props... the good story line... the precise step by step revelation... are still played huge roles in deciding good dramas. A Journey to Love is a good drama, but only the half of the episodes is worth it, the 2nd half that filled with deaths of ML confidants was criticized being poor written story line, forced ending, and I can't agree more. A good drama that begun with a promising start, ends with a HUGE disappointment. Who Rules The World's last 5 episodes filled with forced quick ending also, but overall it is not a disappointment.

The Puppet master from the beginning was and is always the emperor... remember when CPP explained to Fan Jian why Xiao'en would tell Fan Xian about the temple? He said that everything he did was the emperor's command all along, from the very beginning... even from Fan Xian's mother death... him lived in Danzhou in his childhood... his coming to the capital... his two assassin attempts... I mean EVERYTHING, is in the emperor's puppet master hands all along. Don't you get it? Every little details conversation is crucial, CPP always give us clues in every word he said... that is why I said this season we need an understanding from S1 too, connect all the dots...

Like I said so many times before, there's a huge different theme in both season... S1, as you may have watched, tell a story of FX mostly for his heroic action in his fight against power and in my opinion, more of a wuxia drama. Clever boy in the midst of political battle between princes kinda vibe. S2, as many people predict and compare the story with the novel, tell a story how the clever boy is sick and tired being someone's pawn and fight his way becomes one the chess player himself. With his wit and connections he gathered previously in his doomed journey, he swim across the current wave and tried to change the game.
And that is why people often quite disappointed with the s2, because it is not very enjoyable and a bit heavy on the political scheme. You need to watch it with background knowledge of understanding the whole point of the story and politics. And most of all, you need to gasp the S1 story, even you need to learn how to read between the lines (as most of our 1st language is not Chinese), therefore a little understanding in Chinese literature would be better. Don't get me started on the downgraded in the camera, angels, and colors production, for some people, it's a turn off. But for most fans of JOL who really into it, would not complain because how intense the story goes as of 16 episodes. And I am one of them. hihihihi
