i didn't watch the anime/read the manga for this so i'm commenting with a clear conscience, but this was just rather... mid.

the build-up was lacking so badly, and it's like many things were intentionally left out to make viewers who know about the anime/manga be the ones to fill in the puzzle. i understand what the ending wanted to deliver but it fell so flat. backstories were lacking as well. and i know that some shows utilize breathing time in between character dialogue a lot for impact, but there was just sooo much dead air as well. the amount of time mafuyu just took too long to speak irritated me baddd. but oh well, it is what it is i guess.

i watched the special version with the added scenes, but lemme just comment here since there's not a lot of ppl on that comment section. but wow. just. wow. this was so beautifully tragic. i've never had a show fuck me up this bad/good.

10/10. no notes. japan, you have single-handedly destroyed my emotions in the same way MODC did with this one, but worse. i love & hate to see it. definitely won't be rewatching this unless i want a reason to spiral/go to the psych ward!

still... glad that's over with! lemme just rewatch something fluffy & light-hearted like "sugar dog life"/"bl drama no shuen" just to move on, because whew girl... it's gon' be a looong time before i recover from this show emotionally.
