Pre world war era .. 1937-1945 sino Japan war time setting.

It is my first time watching something that expresses pre world war era with chinese POV ... It is always the west countries who propagate their narrative of the world war.... So in my opinion the theme was very refreshing to those who have intellect to feel it... Other than that there was one more thing that I found very impressive is the FL character ... Her potential ..her strong will ..her intelligence ... I love the way she kept her mission over everything .... She is an inspiration for thousands of girls out there who just look for a chance to give up on their already good for nothing career just to get laid ... No offense but we need more of such character to show the world what real feminism means ...
ML was amazing as ever I have seen him in a couple of shows and the characters like marshal ... Governor ..etc actually suit him him ...the authority of a strong character actually appears through him quite effortlessly ...

After reading few review I çame to understand some people found the ending quite confusing .. actually after death of general Yamamoto Japanese had to postpone the war ..which gave qin city enough time me to call for extra troops that led to their victory in the region after just a few months of struggle .. As the FL says winter has started ...we will meet when the spring bloom .." hope this helps ????

The drama in my opinion is worth watching I beleive anyone can put atleast one reason forward to appreciate the beautiful story ...

This one is going to stay in my heart forever

Different dramas hit differently to different people ... As for me "back from the brink" is the one that is going to stay at the top in my heart forever ..
The story along with its executive was superb,everything from VFX to background music was so spot on like the team behind the camera is as enthusiast as the actors in making this into a masterpiece piece.
We discuss about the cast and their acting ..the dragon King "tianyao" NEO Hao, he played it so well I mean I have seen a lot different actors playing dragon God dragon/King but he is the closet thing to a dragon King in my imagination..his expression ...his smile ...the calmness in his aura ... Gosh ! OUTSTANDING... He makes you wanna worship him like a dragon God ...iykyk ... This was my first thing me watching him and he left this everlasting impression that he is going to be my fav asian actor.
Zhou ye was as amazing as always ..she is the only actress who is so cute but doesn't rely on her cuteness but actually works hard on her acting ... Her energy and dialogue delivery is so spontaneous. I love her ?
Other actors did equally brilliant ..I can't pick out any negative thing about this drama ...

(Shhh actually I can .... The only negative thing was ,it had only 40 episodes ?‍??‍??‍??‍??‍??‍?
Good things come to an end so quickly ...)

Title tracks and OST were so good ...infact The closing track was sung by NEO himself ...I put it as my ringtone ..hehe !!

Am I going to watch it again ... ABSOLUTELY may be after 5-6 months ..I know I will never get bored of this one.

I don't wanna watch Xu kai doing such horrible drama ever again

The story is crap ..not gonna lie this was one of the weakest plots that I have ever seen. Why I say so ?? Cause you will watch 3/4th of the drama still won't feel attached to the story ... The feeling of excitement to watch the next episode was totally missing ..just imagine the amount of disappointment.

Xu kai is a fantastic actor He delivered best on his part but in the end he can only play his own role .. I feel bad for him as don't know for what reason but his chemistry with his co-actors has been compromised in last couple of shows ...in best choice ever it was the same .. I hope he gets some beautiful and talented co-actress who will bring out his charisma again ...

Esther yu was terrible like she is in most of her dramas.she was the same in 'Love between devil and fairy' two years back .. her acting skills haven't improved at all,she is hopeless. In fact the rest of the cast performed way better than her. I don't know how chinese casting works but she has no chance to sign even a junior artist role for the third class acting skills she owns.she is the only grade less actress who gives kissing scenes in a child voice, making it even morally incorrect.

The plot was stuffed with a lot of details but somehow the mess created was so much that it lost its core ... The plot was bulky in itself plus There were a total of 4-5 couples having their own love story which were dragged to the last altogether.. an Absolute CHAOS .

a few more things 'louder than dialogue' background music ..basic and ugly costume .. multidirectional approach with no straight execution of parts were responsible for not delivering the drama in its whole potential

If i have to summarise, it was just the hard work of the entire cast ( minus Esther yu) that kept the drama breathing otherwise there was no hope whatsoever.

I don't understand the fuss about this show .. it was boring

After reading a lot of comments and reviews I started watching the show ... But I don't think it is worth the hype ... Richard was the only good thing about this show ..story sucked . . FL character sucked ..her acting sucked ... Momentum of the plot sucked ... It was surely not my cup of tea ... The worst thing was the dimwit FL even if I ignore the cringe dialogue still overall character was pathetic .. she is sort of an undercover agent yet she has no sense of entering a place stealthily... Such a nonsensical plot filled with just crap and idiocy.
First let's talk about lead actors
Guan Yue was just okay ..I have seen his other shows and genuinely he was not even half as good in this one. Blame it on his weak character or pathetic dialogue writing ..but I like nothing about his character or act.

Now FL !!! Her face looked so beat-up like she is coming to the shooting straight out of her bed ... Her hairstyle was lame ... And did she even take a bath ??? How can someone look so sleepy in the entire show .. and her acting is even more pathetic.. for this weird and complicated character I prefer an actress who can atleast look more AWAKE.

The side character ... Like her bFF and the internet celeb guy were horrible as well ..

Spoiler alert: the FL is having illusions of her boss (ML) where she is imaging him in a bath robe saying all the naughty stuff. ~ Girl !! First of all being attracted to someone is a normal thing but the extremes of your illusions say you are watching too much porn .. all girls have fantasy of being wild with their partners/romantic interests but this is insane, you need help ... Visit a good psychiatrist or reach to some rehab centre...
Infact, It turned so annoying that you will get confused what is real and what's her illusion ..so damn messy.
On top her "won't date won't marry" rule ; like gimme a break! you are ready to climb up his bed ..you are having illusions of him doing the BDSM all day long .. you looked like you are so deprived of a Pen*s .. now with such fragile sexual compass you can not have that heavy "no date no marriage" rule ...


In the end I felt I was totally drained of my patience and ability to take nonsense though I just completed half of the episodes. (Enough to make a clear judgement)

congratulations to the chinese writers at last they wrote something so nauseating that has broken all records ... Where to start with ... Let's talk about the LOVE STORY ... The ML is sleeping away with his cheap concubine who harasses the FL ,who is further physically abused by someone as lowly as a palace guard ... She is forced to jump off the cliff and compromise between life and death ..she is left all injured even her face can't be saved ..yet the shameless ML says he is doing all this out of love to save her ..bosdi k (MOFO) if this is love then people don't need enemies .. she is forced to jump off the cliff and commit suicide cause he wants to save her ....
Just catch the bloody writer and shoot him/her on the spot ... This type of stories are not good for any society's morals ...and by all means I wish the writer is forced to jump a multi story building for their lover's attempt to keep them save ... Let him/ her have the taste of their own medicine ...

Seriously I am beyond myself with rage on what in the f-king world I just watch ... Pathetic hopeless ...this is against the entire human race ... The day people will start making their lover jump the cliff the entire human race will come to an end ...

I kept watching but the Queen didn't attack

First blow to the story comes from it's wrong synopsis..she is supposed to have superhuman strength... Like where ??? How ??? When ??? Why ??? Okay just because she helps the prince with some stretching does make her strength equivalent to a superhuman (EYES ROLL) .. she was killed like atleast 12 times in this series and yet we are calling her 'queen of attack' ... Instead of 'queen who is attacked' ..
She was a javelin player I was looking forward to some action ..but to my disappointed there was no action on her part ... (Teary eyes)

Overall story was good ... Consistent paced , good plot ...worth watching one time atleast

I'm under Dai Gao Zheng's spell..

Stories, no matter how good they are written can't reach the viewers, if are not acted out properly. There are times when stories go weak but the performance by the actors make them worth a watch ..and one such actor is Dai Gao Zheng .. honestly he is the one that made me watch these short format dramas.. my boy is so talented , so handsome ..I literally can't take my eyes away. I have watched like 7-8 dramas with him as lead role ..and I can't tell which one was the best .. each one of them is as excellent as the other. ON TOP HIS KISSING SCENES, MY GOD !! HE IS THE KING OF ON-SCREEN KISSING/ STEAMY SCENES.
But this was the first time in this drama that I watched him crying ... ( The scene when feifei memory doesn't come back even after pulling out sorrow forget needles) Damn his crying was so intense ..it felt like my heart was broken into a 1000 pieces. It was so good I was experiencing a connection to his character on all dimensions.

Second we talk about the FL ..the actress playing the role is quite talented I have seen her thousands years of love and she was funtastic..though here her role was not as strong as in 1000 years where she played demon princess , but nonetheless this one wasn't bad either. I wish her character were more into action and less trouble.

The plot was a little slow , flat and confusing at points ..flashbacks took most of the screen time and villains were not given a proper closure ( my personal opinion) . A few things were made unnecessarily troublesome, like at various points in the plot ML is leaving behind FL to protect her though she was best protected when she stays with ML otherwise pretty much everyone is her enemy on different levels (you will understand when you will watch it ) . I frankly don't like this sort of writing when you don't have creativity to put proper conspiracy so you write scenes full of idiocy ..MY CONDOLENCES TO THE WRITER, PLEASE HAND IN YOUR RESIGNATION, THIS JOB IS NOT SUITABLE FOR YOU.

Music was veg impressive either

Continuing after binge watching season 1

This time story was more concrete and grey. As leng li left zuan'ar in the end of previous season,this season started with their patch up (after a leap of two years).. the plot which centred the lead characters in the previous season, gradually shifted towards the other characters. Side stories, mysterious and conspiracies are addressed. I felt the plot was a little fast paced but it was the short drama format so you can't complain.

The best thing i found about this story was the writer literally wrote the plot UNFILTERED, the wrong doing of the vamps and villains are punished with something as severe as Rape and murder.

A little side note: I PERSONALLY DONT LIKE SOME WRITERS' TAKE ON THE PUNISHMENT OF A VAMP WHO PLOTS TO GET THE FEMALE LEAD RAPED, THEY EITHER BE FORGIVEN OR ARE NOT BEING HOLD ACCOUNTABLE ENOUGH ...WHICH SENDS A WRONG MSG TO THE SOCIETY THAT IF A WOMAN IS INVOLVED IN GETTING THE WOMAN RAPED SHE SHOULD BE TREATED SOFTLY JUST BECAUSE SHE IS A 'WOMAN' .... NOW THAT WE COME ACROSS SO MANY HEINOUS RAPE CASES IN OUR REAL SOCIETY, THE WRITERS' MUST TAKE A RESPONSIBLE APPROACH AND GIVE A STRONG MSG AGAINST SUCH CRIMES THROUGH THEIR STORIES NO MATTER IF THE CULPRIT WAS A MALE OR FEMALE.

Cast was same only 1-2 new characters were introduced.

Wang yu zi and wen moyan factor did the job for me

I am so damn impressed by wang yu zi's performance in every period drama .. this man is born to be the ML of period dramas PERIOD !
he captures the essences of his character on a different level and blessed with his looks je actually gives that kind and generous emperor like vibes.
As far as wen moyan is concerned,she is a terrific actress I saw her performance in 'your trap' and her role was so sensuous and seductive. Whereas in this one she is portraying a cute and lovely girl ( with revenge feeling on the side ways) .. Though I personally felt her chemistry with weng yu zi was outstanding better than with any other actor.

The side characters (cast) was equally talented and good-looking especially the female characters ( Xu'ar, li' sister, chinqui,chen'mother)

The story itself was quite interesting and the way its plot is executive made it even more addicting. The pace was consistent and there were no boring and unnecessary scenes. Though this season doesn't unfolds a lot about the conspiracies and is more centred on leng ki and xuan'er's character.

There were comparatively less fight scenes and the choreography of these fight scenes was not impressive but it's okay, as that wasn't even the demand of this story.

Opening sound track was good, very soothing and quite apt for the theme.


Over all this was a great drama that I can recommend with holding back .. you can define give it a try (it also has season 2)

If not for the sad ending I would have given it a perfect 10

First of all the Dylan wang factor made me watch the show, I didn't follow any recommendations whatsoever. The other cast was also excellent but Dylan is my fav ... As far as story is concerned, I am not impressed but not disappointed either . Few stances felt like bit of a drag ..like she had to live four lifetimes before she can stay with him .. honestly speaking it was boring . Though It was a love story but the romance was lacking ... Their chemistry was indeed awesome still I couldn't find many happy couple moments between them ...it was sad and heart breaking ... secondly the repeation of fireflies,fallen patels, butterfly and fireworks scenes was too much ..I mean like come on! man! give us some variation she is living four different lives and you are showing everything pretty much the same.
Parallel leads story was much more in focus for first 20-25 episodes.
the character of female lead is quite weak and has given very less importance ,like it was all about her yin soul other than that her role in the show was not much influential. In fact the parallel female lead stole the show for me. She is bubbly and sassy I loved her. Still I must say both actresses were beautiful and very much loveable.

After that comes the fight scenes and VFX ..those were great .. Chinese dramas are best known for the VFX/fight scenes anyway.

Music was lovely ... It was soothing and very apt for the them of the show.

Parallel leads and side actors were equally talented .. each and everyone of them (from parallel lead's side kick to cat demon ) delivered the best.

Last comes the ending ... See! I don't mind sad ending but for this one I wanted a happy ending ...no !! Seriously !! Let me explain ... I don't feel sad when characters who happened to be living as lovers shared some moments get seperated... But in their case it was prolonged wait ... Suffering , regrets and feelings of missing each other ..for freaking 200 years he was waiting ... She also was subjected to four lifetimes just to be with him ....IF THESE TWO DON'T DESERVE A HAPPY ENDING, I DONT THINK ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD DOES.

It was sad blame it on the writer who screwed the ending just because he/she wanted to showcase his/her experimental mindset ..( GO TO HELL ! writer)

So everything was perfect ... But story itself written by an average writer who I don't know might be thinking of himself as Shakespeare.

I will be brutally honest here..

i kind like the main leads character but the plot wasn't good enough to do them any justice ... series went well till ep 12 ML FL met ..they helped each other to achieve personal goals ..fall in love .. got married. story was heart warming and rom-com. but after this the plot turned into bitch slap crap .. kitchen politics and domestic drama phase ... like a total 180 degrees opposite to how it started .... i am pretty sure a lot of viewers must have given up on this series here ...

i sticked around though ... and from ep 25/26 onwards i find the story improved a little .. i mean it was watchable at this point .. then it went okay till ep 37 but as we reached closer to the ending ...writer messed up again ... i mean seriously messed up ... the ending for ML FL was satisfactory ...but for villains , NO ... you will feel a different level of frustration watching the villains who deserve severe punishments were not hold accountable enough even after committing crimes repeatedly.

this was not the type of series you would recommend others but if you happen to come across it and likely to watch it i suggest you read episodes guide side by side so that you can skip the unnecessary parts ..other wise you will be exhausted

Multiple- watch value stuff

This drama is not my fav let's take it from here but I have watched it more times than any of my fav dramas. If my my fav drama is my boyfriend than this one has to be my bestie I might not give it a ten star rating yet I can not get enough of it .. and moreover it was one of the very first korean shows I watched so there is a feeling of nostalgia attached to it ...

Now let's discuss the story a divorce woman becoming a doctor and the behaviour of her ex husband and in laws around her was very realistic .. there was this old spark thing .. jealousy that the ex wife is getting attention from other man ...
But the main thing that I felt was quite heart warming is he still fell for his ex wife though he had an option to marry a girl so young and more beautiful .. This is the type of love that our society has forgotten long ago ... Very heart touching

I loved the character of senior lady surgeon as well she was one of my favs ...the entire show, the story the cast evrything was so well put together ..I don't know what else can you ask for ..the trauma cases were interesting as well ...

PS ... I liked Dr romantic(only season 1) as well it has little similarities to this one
