Blueming is a really popular one that starts as a rivalry, albeit it doesn't last too long. I gotta say, tho, that Blueming is unlike other BL series in the sense that it requires more attention in the little details. It's absolutely beautiful tho. It's just a softer tone.

I figure the fast pacing also hinders people from connecting properly. Maybe that also throws you off. The plot just keeps rolling forward so unless you jump into the wagon early on, it's hard to keep up (as in get attached, understand the plot, and stuff). Because of the short seasons and short episodes, they cut out a lot of the middle. Rather than focusing on plot, they focused on characters and their growth by putting them in tough constraints. It's definitely a way of storytelling that just won't resonate with a lot of people since it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief.
