his clarification makes it seem like he’s prioritizing the storytelling over anything else. and definitely sounds like he heard the cnetz kiwis and was trying to appease them.. as long as hmh gets the screentime he deserves it should be okay. i guess him wanting to train his new actors is fairly reasonable.. as long as he prioritizes his story. saying it’s like the male version of yanxi palace shows that the story will most probably center around him. somehow i feel a little proud that even yz acknowledges hmh’s acting skills to cast him as ml anyways.. esp coz his scripts are usually quite intricate and dramatic. and I’m proud that it’s wang ye that convinced him. hoping that yz has secretly turned into a fan too… let’s be hopeful 🤞🏻🤞🏻

he has always been that way since the old days, the way i saw it, he had a cute face and people used to belittle and underestimate him so he wanted to prove he’s a grown up man. he’s so used to being allergic to the word cute now. watch some of his old tv shows like parallel time he was acting tough all the time but his co star was telling him to make use of his cuteness to his advantage. but really as much as he acts cool in front of the camera, his candid videos are usually very cute, he can’t hide it from us hahaha

i guess so far i’ve always trusted his choices in choosing scripts and the way he puts inputs to his work and nags his coworkers about how to improve & improvise the performance.. but unfortunately it will all go down to the cutting room so i’m just hoping the directing team is traumatized enough by the c-net kiwis and not mess it up

i heard LITC is more darker because HMH wanted to challenge more morally grey characters.. (he did that with zyz.. and i heard the next project as well) it’s a little bit more mature & complex, (considering he’s such a straightforward & optimistic guy) but somehow I trust in his ability to choose characters.. i’m sure they have some character development arc that shows psychological healing and overcoming past traumas.. (like tian yao; there’s going to be a redemption arc) he can’t always be playing characters like BLDJ & Hua biao even though they give us the most dopamine happy pill ♥️♥️

I’m hoping they can also release reading class this year and it will make sense for hmh to release his album while promoting the drama since there should be singing and dancing in that work.. 🤞🏻

hou minghao touched on it a bit in his interview with media on weibo on the 23rd of January 2025, mentioning using fenghouqimen and luanjianduo a couple of times made wangye more tired than the first season. so it actually makes sense story-wise; plus it is adapted from the animation.

honestly the first time I watched chinese dramas, that’s what I thought.. but I think it is because of cultural differences.. they have so many people living there and so I think sometimes they wanted to show scope or how big the world is, sometimes the world isn’t just about the main protagonists, other people play a part too in the story, albeit very little.. it does affect the story a little, or help with the worldbuilding

for the record, I’ve always liked monkeys before, so when I came across xiao hou zi it was just meant to be. there’s nothing to dislike about him really 🤣 such an inspiring person
