his character is one of the main reasons the drama flopped. all that unnecessary screentime for his repetitive scenes and pointless morals wasn’t deserved at all.

i think they made gu lan more important in the drama than she was in the book. she didn’t really stand out to me that much while i was reading.

honestly, i’m kinda obsessed with the reuters. when i heard it was set in the ming dynasty, i thought glory and expected the same styling, which i didn’t like at all. but turns out, i really love how they styled this one. especially winwin ; he seriously has that old-school chinese costume drama face. i don’t know how to explain it, but if you’ve ever watched a random chinese or hong kong drama from the 90s or 2000s, you’ll get what i mean. he pulls off every hanfu look so well. i saw someone in the comments say the hat doesn’t suit him, and yeah, i kinda agree. it looks a bit too big on his head. i’ve been following cisha for ages, so seeing him finally land main roles makes me so happy. hope this will be his big one.
