After coming from Study group, this looks very grounded. Didn't think that at all
I probably need a few episodes to decide if I want to stick with it. As it is, it's fine but it didn't impress me as much as I thought. I might even let it rest and come back to it once there are some episodes to binge-watch in bulk.

I am glad you seem to like it though so much. That's great. 👍

I am not new to K-dramas either, I have watched my fair share of ridiculous and over-the-top scenarios. But I found the first part more cringey than funny, if I am being honest.

An important historical figurine survives being tossed around, not to mention an explosive car accident. But it turns out it was actually damaged by a bullet that took a ridiculous trajectory. That scene felt dumb, and how they found out about it was also dumb, no matter how I looked at it.

It helps if I look at the drama only as a comedy, since the central plot point itself is also a bit ridiculous. It was always going to be tough to write a justification for why a special agent needed to go undercover "as a student" in a high school, rather than literally anything else. Off the top of my head: he could have gone and done his scouting as the "uncle" his pseudo-sibling. Or something else, since he did almost all of his investigation at night.

But since this is the premise (a grown-ass man pretending to be a high schooler for reasons), I have to roll with it. Upon reflection, I can say that most of my critique was due to coming into the show without much knowledge, not knowing it was going to be a comedy. I expected some level of levity, of course, but I didn't know the direction itself was also going in such a way. Since I know to expect these moments, it should be fine for me now.

When he falls asleep in class, the FL touches him (because she's annoyed at this behavior), and he proceeds to "karate chop" her after being startled.

That actually made me laugh out loud, I don't know why :D After that, I still found some comedic bits over the top, but I thought it should be fine to accept what I am being fed as it is presented. It's fine.

I haven't watched Study Group, so I can't judge. But, after finishing the first episode, I can't really say it's very grounded. There are multiple logical issues and reactions for the sake of comedy. Which didn't sit right with me at first. Maybe because I wasn't expecting it? I don't know.

That said, I was able to enjoy it after halfways through episode one, mostly because I was able to suspend my disbelief. One particular moment helped, which I can mention in spoilers below.

Hm, it seems like my tolerance for the forced action scenes is lower than I expected, these days. I am 10 minutes into the first episode and can't believe how cartoonishly bad it was. It only served looks, they didn't even pretend to make it seem believable.

I was already ready to suspend my disbelief once Seo Kang Joon started pretending to be a high schooler, but now it seems like I have to start early. :D I hope the rest of the show cares more about the script than shooting good action scenes (and it wasn't even that good).

Yes. Watching the opening and the ending credits (after finishing the drama) makes you realize most of the actual plot is revealed with symbolism.

I went back and forth with how I felt about the ending for a while. In the end, I concluded that the biggest reason I felt conflicted was that my favorite romance drama had a "sad" ending. I usually avoid dramas like that, but it worked here, and I can finally admit it.

I guess it might feel cheaper to have a fixed/happy ending in the end, after all those sweet memories have been lost to the time. I will mourn those.

I already watched the opening credits multiple times :D

I didn't read the webtoon and was gonna comment about how I like the cast, but there's a war in this comment section…
This is one of the mosth well-known regression manhwa/novel on the internet, with a huge international fanbase. Just like how you seem to be enthusiatic about the cast (you probably watched them in other projects and liked) & wanted to express your opinions, fans of the the manhwa/novel couldn't help but comment about their opinions either, probably.

I am just going through this section today; haven't read any feedback yet :D

If you say this nonsense then you clearly are not a fan of the manhwa. And even if you were you can't speak for…
Byakko might have seemed harsh but they weren't completely wrong either. You can have your opinion about the adaptation but if you are starting your statement with "speaking for all manhwq fans" when the vast majority of the critics are manhwa/novel readers, expect some harsh pushback.

Unironically, this show needed more episodes—specifically, more "case-of-the-week" episodes. The overarching plot could have been spread into two seasons. The sudden shift from low-level evil spirits to the "big bad" of the season is abrupt and a bit silly. The power scaling is also questionable.

I am a fan of the core concept, but some plot points were boring. The start of the drama is its strongest part for sure.

Despite all that, it was an easy binge. I had a lot of fun.

The plot wasn't as complicated as I expected. Some parts do feel negligible to the overall plot and "vibe," but overall, it was still a great viewing experience. I wish I had watched it before.

The last episode had such a nostalgic and emotional vibe that I felt deeply sad for the characters, yet it wasn't traumatizing but hopeful. In many other shows, the writers either would be unable to explore some of the themes this drama explores or would make it a misery soup that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth months after I finish watching.

While some of the plot points were predictable, the story defied my expectations in that it avoided many of the usual failings of similar dramas and found a great balance between the past, present, and the emotions they all bring to the characters.

EDIT: A special shoutout to Yoo Ah In's acting. The guy just doesn't miss the mark with his performance. It might be a bit selfish to say this while he has enough struggles of his own at the moment, but I will miss his nuanced and superb acting in future dramas.

I actually did, after seeing some comments here.

Doesn't really change how I feel about the ending of the drama, I think. Thanks for messaging though.

Also, you might want to put your reply in a spoiler, just in case ;)

I found it deeply tragic.

It's not the expected "everything works itself out for the happily ever after romance" kind of plot, and maybe that can be profound for some. But I tought it was too abrupt and just plain sad.

The "extra" scene didn't help things much either, to be honest.

It's really good. Really, really good. It has been a while since I found the romance in a drama so deeply pure and touching. And while I can't say I liked ALL plot points, it was clearly written with dedication and a clear purpose.

The opening song is one of the best I have ever seen in a drama—maybe even the best. Wow, just wow.

However, from the looks of it, I have a very different opinion about the ending than many people here. I won't give spoilers, but since even the "vibe" of the ending itself can be a spoiler for some people, I'll write another comment.

In short, it's definitely worth checking out. I don't know why I waited so long to watch it. And it lived up to the hype for me.

Title Beloved Life Spoiler
He was not cheating on her.
Wu Congrui had a condition that made pregnancy difficult for her. Her mentor shared this with her husband, wanting him to be careful about managing her expectations. She also anted Congrui to be the chief resident.

So, her husband doesn't seem too eager to have another baby. When she tries to keep creating opportunities to make a baby, he gets an operation to minimize the danger of pregnancy.

Still, a shitty thing to do without talking to your wife. A red flag for sure. His explanation was that he didn't expect her to divorce him so abruptly without giving him a chance to explain. He was trying to gather the courage to explain it all to her, apparently.

Her mentor says to Congrui "Your desire for having a baby was stronger than your love for your husband."

It was a good drama.

Du Di had one real supporter in this drama: Liu Nianbai. They were very sweet, and you always rooted for them.

Medical cases were also very touching and (at times) properly rage-inducing. The drama isn't perfect in this area, but I went in with low expectations so I was left satisfied in the end.

Big trigger warnings for sexism and miscarriage; for many problems women face in general, actually. I am also not 100% sold on how they handled depression, but the effort seems sincere.

The hospital personnel's attitude toward Du Di seemed repetitive at times. I also have many issues with how Wu Congrui and Li Junxiao were written. The dubbing for various actors seemed noticeably bad, even to my amateur eyes. The stakes in the drama (excluding the patient stories, of course) didn't seem high. They dragged the potential promotion of Du Di and Wu Congrui in a bad way, using it to create artificial tension.

The show also had one of the weirdest closing segments I have seen. I loved the scene, but it was VERY out of place.

On the other hand, I really liked Du Di. She remained true to her character and still found a way to make herself a better doctor and (probably) a better partner in a relationship. Liu Ninbai was also a great character with a lot of potential. They probably could have done a better job with him career-wise, but he offered so much more. His stand-up scenes were well-written; I would definitely be in the audience for all his shows. The writers found clever ways to express some of their ideas, I liked that.

This isn't an "outstanding" drama; you can safely skip most of the annoying parts and the patient stories you didn't like. I had fun watching it. Just don't expect a masterpiece (or good second leads) and you will probably have a good viewing experience.

Where the F did it show the two of them still meet and fall in love, as in how the episode 13 ended? Because I just finished it and it just... ended.

That ending was not bittersweet; it was tragic.
