Wonderful story, one of the best C dramas of 2025

I really loved this C drama series. For starters, I simply don't understand the many comments and preoccupation of some people with the age gap between the FL and ML in real life and as the main leading characters in this drama. So, if you are one of the "age police" and believe that love between two people should adhere to age restrictions, then this drama is definitely NOT for you, so please keep your low score negativity to yourself instead of bringing the show's ratings down. Also, speed, fast action lovers, this story is not for you either. It's a wonderful, slowly developing drama of love and complex human emotions between two people. I love both leading characters and their chemistry throughout the show. Finally an intelligent show with superb, talented actors and an interesting storyline. The only small issue I have with this and most other 2025 C dramas is the portrayal of women in current modern society, namely how young women seems to have adopted the "career first above everything else" mentality that is truly detrimental to society and establishing families. So, the last episode of this drama was a bit disappointing but not unexpected where the FL choose her career and became anti marriage even though the ML lead very clearly stated how important marriage and having a family was to him. So the FL seemed not to understand that she really didn't have eternity on her side if she wanted to have a family with this man she completely loved. I suppose, her denial of the existence of a "biological clock" for women eventually wanting to have families is the sign of our times in the career oriented, hussle culture of today. Great story/writing but not so great adaptation

I truly wanted to love this drama but I got bored quite quickly and skipped through lots of the boring blah, blah, blah conversations. It's probably just me but I felt that there was absolutely no chemistry between the leads, even when FL tried to play cutesy, her acting felt totally fake. The screen writers also made the mistake of keeping the FL lying act, schemes way too prolonged (23 episodes ) so by the time the truth was revealed, nobody cared anymore as viewers got bored already. I also had a bit of an issue with almost all of the actors/actresses looked exactly the same and it was hard to figure out who was whom, (example the FL and the Princess and some of the dancers looked almost identical) same with many of the male characters, very similar faces, age etc.
ML has a beautiful , very distinctive face/features and shows lots of emotions on his face throughout the show. On the other hand, the FL has a very average, non distinctive looking face that barely shows any emotions throughout the drama. Their "romance" looks fake and cold, lacks real emotional connection between the two actors. The Vibe/Chemistry was definitely off between the ML and FL characters
Overall, I found the storyline very interesting but the adoption not so much as up until past 23 episodes, it was pretty boring with the never ending poisoned then healed, injured and healed, more injury and healing over and over again plus the same schemes, same villains, same FL lying over and over..... Besides boredom, it became pretty exhausting to watch and I had to use my fast forward quite a lot
Good stuff: I absolutely loved, loved the spirit animals ( the dragon and the cat) and their friendship was especially heartwarming, good actors. Visually, it was probably one of the best fantasy dramas I have seen. Fantastic scenery, dream world, wonderful special effects . Loved the music and the beautiful costumes. You can tell that great efforts, lots of creativity and hard work went into this production. Excellent job team!! Thank you for the dreamy beautiful world, experience.

Wacky, Unhinged, totally enjoyable fun

I absolutely loved this short story. Storyline is very fresh, creative and different from anything I have seen in a great while. I truly love the characters and were laughing a lot throughout the whole film. The storyline threw me a bit with the unexpected twist of how the ML actually lost his memories along with seeing ducks.
What started out as a very funny, quirky story turned into a more meaningful love story and a lesson of tolerance in a relationship when two people truly love each other. Fantastic production with a hugely talented young cast. Bravo!! Highly recommend this creative gem.

What a disappointing nonsense

I watched this show because of the high ratings and are now wondering how this mess got such high ratings?
I love rom coms/fantasy comedy genres but I honestly can't tell what this is supposed to be. My rating is strictly based on my opinion of this C drama.
The whole storyline and supposed romance lack even the smallest grain of believablity. Gorgeous, hot, successful CEO and his cute, talented brother both deeply fall in love with a not so attractive, without personality or charm FL who is dumping both guys multiple times during the show. Seriously? Terrible casting for the FL role as her character is childish, ridiculous and stays exactly the same without any character growth or development throughout the whole show. The script writers have created a truly unlikeable messed up, lying, female character who supposedly has superpowers which manifests in one scene as she freeze time and space but in the next scene she is afraid to cross the street. Then with all her strength and superpower, she lets a human tie her up and beat her, etc. Then .. the FL is all over men and is totally and shamelessly turned on,,, and yet.. when it comes to the hugging scenes, she is faking "a deer in a headlight" reaction totally out of what the reaction should be for a romantic encounter. What a terrible performance/acting! The whole thing is ridiculous. The kissing scenes are probably the worst part, they are awful, and fake with the FL open eyes and the close ups make it even worse. The storyline and dialogues are repetitive and boring. The same love you, don't love you, breaking up, making up, now I don't want you, now I do.....on and on and on it goes in a loop. Same exact thing. Even the dialogues are exactly the same in many scenes. Boring and very uncreative. Thank God for fast forwarding.
Music is nice. Wardrobe has some nice pieces but the actors mostly wear the same garments over and over.
It appears that whoever wrote this may never been in a relationship ever and have no idea how to portray a real romantic relationship. Honestly, I consider this drama, (supposed romantic comedy) a huge waste of time and if it wasn't for the talented, hot ML who at least tried to save this mess, I probably wouldn't had the patience to finish this without a total brain freeze. Waste of production budget. And finally, .....we have 21st Century technology and superb special effects technology to portray superpowers in an interesting way, which would have probably saved this production if applied .

Good story

This is my first time watching a Taiwanese drama and I really enjoyed it . The storyline is very interesting and creative and holds the viewers attention well. I loved the characters and the friendship/family vibes throughout the show. The only character I wasn't crazy about is the FL whom I found quite annoying and totally unrealistic. She was supposed to be portrayed as a spoiled, very, very naive, kind girl who was educated in the US, but instead she came across as a slow witted, low IQ, dumb person behaving like a three year old with her " mommy, mommy, mommy" ridiculousness. It appears that the actress couldn't grasp the idea of playing a naive (not dumb)cute, charming and likeable, interesting character. Instead we got a very, very bland personality along with a very bland appearance and no redeeming qualities She became a bit tolerable towards the end showing a little bit more spine and character. that should actually have been played since the beginning. I have deducted one point from my rating because I think the FL should have been cast to a bit more experienced actress. who would have been able bring an interesting, likeable character to the role. Actually , I think that the FL's best friend (toned down character) would have been a better choice for the FL role. I also didn't see much chemistry between the FL and ML lead to be called a true, believable romance.
Otherwise, I truly liked all the other characters/actors and my all time favorite is the boys'mother. What a cute lady she is! The music and scenery was awesome and memorable. Overall, it's a good watch and thank you for the entertainment and your hard work. Bravo!

Top Award for a C/Drama with the MOST number of unlikeable characters

I just recently discovered this C Drama and looking at the excellent casting, I was truly excited to watch this series. Until,..I wasn't. I think, the reason for the low ratings and poor reviews are (myself included) is because of the lack of likeable characters that the audience can lock onto, like and root for, otherwise, viewers lose interest very quickly and become annoyed having wasted their time on unsavory characters. Also, there was a lot of abusive characters and episodes being physical, mental or otherwise. Most people don't care for abusive behavior that was acceptable to the director and the screen writer. Apparently, the script writer/director don't understand the 101 of film making, namely.. create characters that/whom are engaging and likeable to hook and engage the audience,. (villains are fine too as long as they don't overtake the likeable characters)
1. I am a huge fan of Yang Mi, her character in this movie was deplorable. Even in the beginning, with her "cheerful", nosy, know it all, intrusive, no boundaries behavior was truly annoying and dislikeable. And later, her character evolved into a dishonest, lying, stubborn, still intruding into other people's business, character that was even worse and unrealistic.
2. The very unreasonable character of the ML's best friend, behaving like a toddler with temper tantrums and abusive, bullying behavior. An yet, you want us to believe that her boyfriend not only tolerated the abuse but supported it. Seriously?? What idiot would put up with such awful behavior in real life? Is this a wishful thinking of the script writer?
3. Brother of ML. is a completely unhinged character which is pretty dangerous for a supposed Neuro surgeon not to mention for a dr who is supposedly a trained psychologist. He is not only a liar and a narcissist but also an ungrateful individual toward the parents who adopted and raised him. They should have left him in the gutter.
4. The Mother of the ML, what mother would intentionally cause harm to their child in the name of helping them. What a vile, hateful person.
I am going to stop here because there is a whole longer list of dislikeable characters and it would be too long to list it
Honestly, the only likes likeable character was the FL best friend's boyfriend and the ML despite of his unrealistic obsession that was again, due to ridiculous writing.
Bottom line, I don't like the fact that this drama tolerates so much abuse ( mental and otherwise) and demeans men in general by creating male characters that are not only tolerating but applauding such bullying and abusive behavior. It's insulting and I am saying this being a woman. It was painful to watch.
Again, creating such tolerant/unrealistic male characters must have been a female script writer's wishful thinking.

Love story in slow mo

I was excited to watch this show given the high ratings. Overall, I really liked the storyline and the actors were all very good and professional. Not to mention the two ML being really, really hot. I also liked Zao Jin Mai the FL as she is cute and very talented. However, somehow I felt that the chemistry between the FL and ML were a bit off, especially in the last episode, the airport scene was really cringeworthy with ML/FL acting truly awkward towards each other plus all their "colleagues" weirdly standing around and watching them in silence. What was that? I was also not fan of the boring family scenes at the end as the whole thing looked pretty fake and the leads looked somewhat uncomfortable acting as Mom and Dad probably because being at a young age they are not that experienced with the kiddie, family type of situation.
yet. That's just my observation. Otherwise I really enjoyed the show and thank the whole crew for their fantastic job.

Too much and too long conflict between FL&ML to be enjoyable plus the highly unlikeable FL

I am not impressed with this series. I felt the chemistry was way off between the FL and ML, or to be precise, there was none. The FL actress' lack of emotional depth and flat, mostly sour faced expression and bland performance has totally ruined the supposed love and chemistry between the lead characters. And to save the lack of chemistry Chen Fei Yu has been over acting, way above what a normal love relationship would look like in real life. Hence, this whole "love affair" is far from believable, i.e. a gorgeous, smart, talented, kind, from a privileged background ML falls head over heels for a very plain looking, no personality or talent, stubborn, cold, hateful and mean, materialistic, playing hard to get poor girl. Seriously? Totally unrealistic . All the supposed love scenes look like the actors are just reading off the script, no warmth, or any kind of chemistry. Maybe if they cast a more likeable actress as the FL, at least the romance would have been more believable. Perfect example of wrong casting ruinning a perfectly good story. The second FL / ML romance and chemistry was much better and more believable. And what's with all these career obsessed, hard core aggressive young female characters lacking any feminity or compassion and warmth? I hope young women in real life are not taken in by the b.s. of "career above everything else" as the highly competitive "Profit above integrity" business motto actually doesn't care much about young people or their dreams, profit is the only king.

Underwhelming

Easy watch, pretty bland. Storyline is not bad and the potential was there to make it into an exciting romance, story but they missed and the story flatlined. I didn't feel much chemistry between neither the first couple ML/FL nor the second couple ML/FL. Actually the second couple was a bit more interesting and funny, however on the romance part, there were visible signs of avoidance of kissing by the actors and you could tell that there was absolutely no physical attraction between the characters. First couple also seemed to lack real chemistry and in fact they were more awkward with each other than anything else. Maybe a better pairing of actors would have made the "love" story more believable. And the final 3 episodes..OMG ..I have never seen a more boring, mundane ending of a supposed double couple romance story. Pretty disappointing.

Entertaining

It's a good/entertaining storyline and like most costume C dramas it has pretty much everything, i.e. court intrigue, politics, excellent fighting scenes, scheming bad guys, good guys winning, love and attraction between beautiful male and female leads, wedding, happy ending. It's not a completely unique storyline but I was entertained. However, at times I was a little bit confused as most of the "elders/parents" actors all look a like and hard to distinguish whom are who. Same with the plots, too confusing because of the similarities of the characters and their looks. In any case, great job crew! Thanks for the great entertainment.

Great production

I watched this show because one of my favorite actors Liu Xue Yi. He is a gorgeous, very talented versatile actor and I wasn't disappointed with how he portrayed his character in this drama. The female lead Ju Jing Yi is also a very beautiful talented actress although I found her character portrayal a bit bland and the chemistry between ML/FL lukewarm at best. I actually found the original Yang CaWe character more interesting and more of a natural beauty. Too bad she didn't get much screen time. I also really loved Li Ge Yang, an upcoming young talent. Overall, the storyline was very interesting and entertaining if you can overlook a few inconsistencies here and there. Beautiful music, great customes and fantastic photography, scenery. Loved it and highly recommend it. Thanks for the great entertainment

Entertaining

Overall, it's a good storyline that keeps your attention. I loved the characters and the chemistry between the ML/FL/2ML. Beautiful, talented actors and not too many annoying characters which is typical in most C dramas, i.e. whining, super annoying childlike females ( only a few in this drama). The plot is interesting and original up to a point, at which time it becomes too repetitive, namely, every episode is about chasing, killing, torturing the FL over and over again. It gets really boring. Also, how did a modern " military" girl got all the ancient Marshal art skills to perfection in an instant when she took over the body of a girl who was weak and timid? Ok, we get the qin music part as the " host" was a good player.
Overall, it's a good show and entertaining. I recommend this drama, have already watched it twice (second time fast forwarded the repetitive scenes)

Nonsense

Just watched this older series and regretted it. Total nonsense. I have never seen a more annoying FL character. Big mouth, low class, rude, no manners, no class, delusional dishonest. Very, very unlikable character. The ML supposed to be a smart detective but can't figure out the deceit and lies right in front of him?? Very childish, naive storyline. Waste of time to watch this show, I only watched it halfway through because the ML (Wallace ) is one of my favorite actors but couldn't take much more of the FL character so had to stop. Don't waste your time on this.

Sad/gloomy storyline but worth watching

I am not particularly fond of this kind of sad, depressing, gloomy dramas as life is already hard enough most of the time. I usually watch happy ending easy to watch fantasy or custom pieces with lots of romance. However, Mark Chao is my most favorite actor ( ever since Eternal Love) and I love to see. anything he plays in. He is a very versatile, highly talented, extremely handsome, likeable actor and his acting skills didn't disappoint in this drama. I also really liked Zhang Zi Feng' s portrayal of the FL character. She is a wonderfully talented young actress with a very bright future in the industry. All the supporting actors were also really great and talented. As for the overall storyline, it was a bit too sad and gloomy for me. The ML and FL sour, gloomy, sad faces throughout the whole drama was pretty depressing and a huge downer for me. The whole mood throughout the story was sad with hopeless characters and had an overall doomed feeling. Like I said, it's definitely not my type of drama but it's a masterpiece for serious drama lovers. Great production, great work!
