No in the novel emperor had grated them marriage and chu zhao to xu pinting,and in the novel he yan had a elder sister who was kidnapped by chu zhao to talk to he yan and he confessed his feelings but didn't force or plead to emperor , as he knew she will only follow her wish neither his nor xiao jue.
