I think he exists if you remember the ending scene the one who opened the post box and recieved their last letter was shen cheng (those hands hadsame watch that he wears) that's why he exists so he's not her real son.

Everything was great but ye haitang marriage didn't make sense... Like why would she gets married then get divorced too if she still liked tang yi xun. Like she didn't need it even if he died because she became independent.
Plus shen cheng was definitely not her own child (I wished they revealed a bit more about this plot)
