I said that Jiu Ying is the force behind the catastrophes, but that’s not entirely correct, right? The real cause was the explosions of the Stellar Stone, but Jiu Ying took advantage of the situation to grow stronger amid all the fear and hatred (?)

I’m trying to piece together everything i’ve read with what i’ve watched and what i understand about the plot. I’ve gathered some information, let’s see if it makes sense:

Jiu Ying is the main force behind the four great catastrophes that caused countless deaths, wiped out entire clans, and tormented society for over a thousand years. After coming into contact with the Stellar Stone, he realized that hatred and fear amplified his power. From that moment on, he deliberately fueled the rivalry between humans and demons to ensure those emotions would always persist, allowing him to maintain and increase his strength.

Ji Ling is not the true Dragon God. He was originally a fox who was rescued by the Dragon King and later took on the form of Yuan Xizai, who is identical to Yuan Wuhuo. From Yuan Wuhuo’s perspective, he constantly sees Ji Ling’s face, because Yuan Xizai bears his appearance.

The Dragon God entrusted Ji Ling with his ring and the protection of the world, at least until a true successor could be found—Wu Shi Guang, the tenth son.

Both Lu Wu Yi and Wu Wang Yan became hosts for Jiu Ying at different points in the story, carrying out their actions while possessed. The massacre of Wu Shi Guang’s clan was not caused by Chi Wen, but by Jiu Ying, who had taken control of Wu Wang Yan. She only regained her senses after the entire clan had already been slaughtered.

In short, Jiu Ying is the true main antagonist of the story, while the Butterfly Demon (Yuan Wuhuo) acts as his right-hand ally. Together, they spread discord and destruction between humans and demons in exchange for greater power. Only Chi Wen or Wu Shi Guang, both dragons, have the ability to defeat them.

Now, one question remains: Jiu Ying’s true motivation is the Stellar Stone, correct? Is his ultimate goal to obtain absolute power and rule over the world while keeping it in a state of chaos?

Just when I start understanding the plot, it somehow gets even more confusing 😭 Are YWH and Ji Ling brothers? Isn’t Ji Ling/Chi Wen not the real dragon, but was saved by the real one?

So, Yuan Xizai and Yuan Wuhuo aren’t brothers, and it’s not YWH who looks like YXZ, it’s actually the other way around. The reason why YXZ resembles the butterfly demon is directly tied to his origin, right?
I think it’ll be explained soon.

What confused me is what happened when they tried to destroy the stone to end the illusion across the different timelines, they got sent to the day of the four catastrophes, right? What’s the connection there? I also didn’t really get how Bai Ze is tied into all of this, since from the way Wu Zhi Qi talked, it sounds like he’s involved somehow.
