The way My Royal Nemesis ML Heo Nam Jun talks about IU tells you everything about the level of respect and admiration she has in the industry.

He genuinely sounded starstruck the entire time 😭 You can instantly feel how sincere, careful, and appreciative he is whenever he mentions her. It doesn’t even come across like he’s talking about ā€œjust a co-starā€ — he speaks about her like someone he deeply respects both as an artist and as a person, almost like she’s a dream-like figure he still can’t believe he got to meet and work with.

Watch the clip yourself because his reactions honestly say everything.

i cant believe iu went from THE wlgyt to whatever this shit is. what even more disappointing is her acting, girly…
First of all, if IU’s character felt cringe to you, that only means IU acted so well that she brought the character to life exactly as intended.

Secondly, your comment clearly shows that this drama simply is not your type. Everyone has different tastes, and this kind of drama is not for everyone. IU usually does not take on dramas like this either, and with this performance, she has proven that she can portray very different characters beautifully. To me, her acting was outstanding.
And one more thing — IU’s last three or four dramas were all at an award-worthy level. Expecting an actor to deliver the best drama every single time is honestly an unrealistic expectation.

Anyway, this drama is simply not the kind of show for you. You could have just chosen not to watch it. The trailer, and even the first few moments, already made it clear what kind of drama it would be and what IU’s character would be like. You only wasted your own time, and by coming into the comment section to say this, you are only making yourself look foolish.

people keep acting like pc was drowning in controversy 24/7 when in reality most viewers were just watching the drama normally. the loudest outrage mainly came from obsessive shippers, right-wing weirdos, and people already looking for a reason to attack pc before it even aired.

The opening of every episode literally reads:

ā€œWe would like to inform you that this drama is FICTIONAL and the names, characters, institutions, events etc. that appear ARE NOT RELATED TO REALITY.ā€

Another article talking absolute sense. The backlash against PerfectCrown has completely crossed the line into an excessive witch hunt. The writer completely agrees that the Ep 11 historical slip-ups (the Cheonse and costume mistakes) were jarring, but the extreme demand to ban/trash the entire show is too much.

A mistake in historical accuracy affects the artistic quality of a show, but it shouldn't be treated like a criminal offense that requires wiping a highly successful project from existence. You don't burn down the whole house over a flawed detail.

Perfect Crown was explicitly marketed as an alternate-universe fantasy romance where the Joseon monarchy survived into the modern day. If the public demands 100% strict documentary standards for pure fiction, it will completely paralyze and kill creative imagination in the future.

The writer also noted the cast and crew did everything possible to make it right: IU and Byeon Wooseok gave deep personal apologies, Director Park took full blame and literally cried in his interview, and the scene was cut from all VOD platforms. They gave sufficient apologies—continuing to attack them is just toxic bullying.

IU has been on the Forbes Korea list since 2012, & for 12th time This year. She was ranking #1st in the list…
Gallup Korea is considered one of the most prestigious and respected popularity surveys in Korea because it reflects the general public’s opinion, not just fandom voting or social media hype. Their surveys use professional polling methods and include different age groups across Korea, so ranking high there usually means a celebrity or a drama truly has strong public recognition and influence in Korea.

And now you see why certain K-drama stan Twitter circles and Korean incels online were so desperate to hate them? Even in this comment section, you can frequently see the presence of certain people who supposedly didn’t even like the drama and their presence is even more noticeable than those who actually enjoyed it šŸ˜‚

Byeon Woo-seok and IU entering The Forbes Korea 2026 Power Celebrity rankings as two of only three actors (the other one is Park Bo-gum) in the Top 20 is such a gag.

Their drama keeps getting dragged into ā€œcancelā€ agendas, yet that very same series and their roles continue to be recognized by prestigious lists like Gallup and now Forbes. The results are speaking for themselves.

IU donated 8.6 Billion KRW ($5.71 million USD) for her country yet knetz still choose to focus on her flaws rather than her kindness. Korea really don’t deserve someone like IU. They fail to appreciate an artist who has given so much to her country

Today I saw a tweet on Twitter and if it’s actually true, then it’s an absolutely disgusting thing to do.

ā€ My friend in Korea, who works in the aviation industry and is also a fan of the actor (...), said that there were some offers of money if they signed a petition demanding the cancellation of the drama Perfect Crown. They are fans of some of the actors whose dramas aired this yearā€

I’ve watched many historical K-dramas and actually got curious about Korean history/culture because of them. But Perfect Crown? 😭 It's the least drama I would think about in historical context and somehow 15k are screaming ā€œhistorical distortion" to THIS extent for it?🤣

Finally, a voice of sanity. Media Today published a brilliant defense of the drama, and it completely exposes the flaws in the "distortion" narrative.

The show is literally titled 21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife (大źµ°ė¶€ģø). The male lead is a Grand Prince (son of a KING), not an Imperial Prince. The world-building consistently established a modern surviving Kingdom, not an Empire.

Demanding a 12-string imperial crown for a King makes zero internal sense. The 9-string crown and ā€œCheonseā€ are completely consistent within the writer’s fictional timeline. It’s a creative AU choice, not a national crisis. Media Today is spot on: weaponizing ā€historical distortion" to cancel art is total overkill. šŸ‘‘šŸ“°
