You Can't Prepare For This

A few people might get mad at me for saying this, but I went into this drama with Penthouse expectations, and in my opinion, it didn't disappoint. It had the same level of absurdity I wanted and the scenes that make you go, "Okay, what the hell just happened?" You look away for a moment while watching this drama and suddenly someone's 'dying' or you missed a major plot twist. There is honestly so much to unpack in this drama, you could probably rewatch it the same day you finished it and you'd manage to find details you missed.

At one point throughout watching the series, I was sure that Da Mi would return because the guy saw her at the hotel. The writers never explained what happened there, so I assume it was just apart of his imagination. I would've loved if she came back and I truly believe she would up until the final episode of season 2.

Here's somethings I disliked:

1. The island: I genuinely have no clue what that was. The fact that they were somehow all hallucinating the same thing (except for the boars/tigers/whatever else they said they were) made zero sense to me. Between the middle of episode 7 and the end of episode 8, I was simply confused. I feel like the island scene could've been executed differently. The whole point of the island was to confuse the characters, not the viewers.

2. Cheating death: Other than Da Mi (the one person I actually wanted alive) , I feel like everyone cheated death. There were moments where I was sure a character was 100% going to die, then somehow they survive or another character saves them before they are shot in the chest . Chairman Bang is a prime example of this. How did he survive? It could not have been possible for him to survive a fall from that height, and even if he did, the level of mobility he has afterwards would never be possible. I'm never one to look into the logistics of things, but that made no sense to me. Also K could've died multiple times, but the characters always hesitate to shoot or stab.

3. Da Mi got no screentime: Before any of you get up in arms about how Da Mi was there for multiple episodes, for a show that should be primarily centered on the death of this mistreated girl, she was hardly ever there. After the major plot twist of the season happened, it's like the whole Da Mi plot got thrown out the window and it was all about how K's daddy didn't love him because he was a fake. Maybe it's because I loved Da Mi's character and her sunshine personality, but she was cheated out of her screentime.

Those are just some of the things I can remember, I completed this drama a two days ago, and I basically remember nothing. I wouldn't watch this drama again because it would be a pain to process it all again, but it was a genuinely good watch, but I understand why people may not like it because the plot is a bit of an organized mess that leaves you a bit frazzled if you aren't paying close attention.
