I guess not My Theory is that she was pregnant with their child and as a normal human she had a very hard life and the child died for some reason and i also remember her discipline getting attacked by the villagers. Maybe villagers thought that she is a witch of some kind and wanted her to die, she begged for mercy and asked the heavenly Gods to save her son but they refused and of course jiu si had no idea about all of this, she was also killed and now she wants to kill him because HE WAS NOT THERE for her and their child. He doesn't even know that the child existed.
I have another thought, jiu si sealed her spiritual powers before leaving for a reason. Maybe he made a deal with the heavenly gods because i remember him saying that he promised to keep the three realms safe or something.
