Yes, I saw some pic on Instagram on ending episodes and I am glad I didn't waste my time on it. This history will appeal to the new bl watchers but those of us that have been seeing bl series for a long time will be hit or drop. I am tired of Thai's school and uni bl plots and I honestly had a huge expectation from Taiwan bls but they are also becoming like Thai bls failing in terms of plot and production, yes Japanese and Korean dramas are really good hoping they will produce more high production and unique plots BLs.
I really had high hopes in Taiwan Bls but it seems I have to lower expectations because people love money more than presenting an amazing story.
Maybe I have been watching bls for a long time so now I have become picky. Unlike before when I used to watch all the bls now only the ones that interest me I watch. And plotline matters a lot to me.
I LOVED Untamed and liked Guardian. I LOVED Killer and Healer but liked WOH! I didn't read the WOH novel so I have no idea how much they changed. TBH I love reading all genre of bl novels modern or republican or historical or fantasy or wuxia etc. but when it comes to adaptation I prefer to see the modern or republican ones at least for now (watched too many historical wuxia types drama) so many of my fav wuxia novels are getting adapted and I honestly think I will not enjoy the series as much as I enjoyed the novel because of the same reason you said: "exaggeratedly changes made and how much it deviated from the novels." I understand why changes happen: censorship, budget, and some scenes are just not possible to adapt for china yet talking about the special effects and all that.
And the modern and republican ones give you a realistic vibe (closer to our timeline maybe that's why) and can be adapted more easily where else wuxia ones don't give me a realistic vibe at all *Sigh* I just can't relate. I personally hated it! It had all the tropes (good and bad)you can think of nothing original and the execution was nothing new. It had the exact vibe the Thai Uni and School bls have the only diff these are 30+ working men which doesn't make sense at all. I expected a more mature and serious and of course humorous tone but it was completely different from my expectation and my current mood. I agree with you about the WBL one as well. I guess Asian BLs will always have problematic trope except for rare few ones. *sigh* IF I ever watch history 4 I will only watch 1st couple (I dropped the series after ep 6)
And China is producing so many beautiful healthy bls but freaking censorship is ruining everything!!!

Every single series has some kind of tragedy though XD but I focused on the main pair ending and I think that how it should be. TU has the happiest ending even compare to WoH IMO. And wait till WoH fans find about the list they will obliterate everyone other cp XD!

You are absolutely right about our group name. That's where I found the inspiration to name our group "Steamy Wonton" hahaha. We got so many beautiful soft scenes them eating wontons and it's both of their favorite food!
