The drama is about oh soo jae vs president choi tae gook, the whole plot is theirs. All other characters are support with smaller plots to fill the 16 eps. The catch is that they cast 2 idols as "main" characters just to increase popularity and the final eps made that obvious. Choi tae gook's eldest son and his two friends are more relevant than Gong Chan and Yoon Sang. If we had this in mind when we started watching it, maybe, it would be less disappointing.

Yes, I've noticed that too, it's very common for leads to have the same family name in kdramas. I just looked up the names of brothers and sisters in kdramas and they are different on the 1st syllable of their given names and here they are on the 2nd.
