You know now that you have said it I totally agree with you on the size difference. They also played into it on…
I finished ep 4 and enjoyed it, I'm mostly just trying to ignore the excess height difference at this point, they don't seem to be over doing emphasizing it in the show (I don't know about the graphic novel/webnovel) but it's just one of those things in the show, they just are that short and that tall. lol

For me, the teacher's behaviour doesn't come off as childish, it's actually more of a toned down fangirl vibe, he's not totally fangirling, but he's walking the line. I like him though, he's pretty spastic and funny.

I didn't know about the dubcon in the original, but glad they left that out for sure. Asian writers seem to be lowkey obsesses with rapey stuff lol

Yes, I do not like the 'taking care of' trope when it's overdone, I only tolerate it sometimes because it seems like it can never be avoided. For me, the infantilization thing is more of pain in the taking care of trope, like when the one person hurts his finger and then the other acts like it might kill him so he dotes on him, feeds him, cooks for him, shelters and talks to him like a lost kitten or child, and all that weird shit. I don't find that appealing. It annoys me even if it's presented in GL or het shows, that whump/paternal care trope is very off putting, it's just ick to me. It's very prominent in Thai BL, and somewhat present in others.

AH I was right about the ulterior motive. I lol'd when the teacher answered, "I don't have a partner." totally clueless of the fact the singer now thinks he's a lying skank πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I know that feeling, I've still dropped shows even when I did like an actor lol
Hopefully ep 3 will hit better for you like it did for me.

Episode 3 kinda' raised the bar right up for me. I enjoyed episode 3 more than the first two, this show might be about to hit its stride in the coming eps. The excess in height difference is still a little hard to reconcile as visually appealing, but other than that, the honest dynamic presented here between the two so far is very enjoyable. I also like how self-aware both ML characters are, it'll hopefully mean less silly 'misunderstanding' tropes. I DO think that there's a possibility the singer has some kind of ulterior motive based on his fellow group member and friend and the manager of the group, OR, his instant attraction to the teacher will become an issue when he finds out the teacher lives with his manager. If there is a misunderstanding trope, it'll probs be about the singer assuming something more is going on between his manager and the teacher. Hmmm. I don't want spoilers though, whether I'm wrong or right, I'll watch it play out myself. Keen for the next ep ✌️

I haven't gotten to episode 3 yet but now you're making me wonder if I'll end up dropping this. I never thought 'too much height difference' would be a problem for me lol, but if they if they're hyper-focusing on it in a bad way it's gonna give 'ick' vibes. But I guess I'll see what happens. It's funny you mentioned the 'infantilization', I was just struggling recently to get through My Magical Prophecy, getting annoyed with how exaggerated the 'taking care of' aspect is in Thai BLs, like, it's almost paternal and weird and off putting. Now I don't need BLs to start ruining 'size difference' for me too.

The actor playing the manager is really tall. The first time I saw him was in this short BL drama.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6F3E5jgX68I'm…
I think you misunderstood🀣 the singer and the teacher have a massive height difference, not the manager and the singer. To me, the manager and singer almost look like the same person 🀣🀣

I could be wrong, but after skimming the credits of the show, I don't think it's dubbed. I think audio is filmed…
I also considered that they dubbed themselves, but the audio vacuum like sound of overdubbing is missing, also, perhaps because the production team decided to try real time audio recording but are newish to it, there are some points where the talking in the show is a little too soft of the sounds are swallowed, that also makes me think the actors are delivering the lines directly in the scene. I think it's great too. I'm all for it.

Now wait... genuine question here. Is it dubbed over like all the other cbls? Cuz I'm going mad over here I'm…
I could be wrong, but after skimming the credits of the show, I don't think it's dubbed. I think audio is filmed in real time while acting out scenes. The show does sound like it.

I have a question guys. Are they official couple? Cause I see some vlog parts from them and heard they leave together!…
They are not a couple. And Thailand is the only country that does repeated and 'permanent' pairs, these are Chinese actors, they will not appear in a series together again.

hahaa at first I was like "whaaaaat, I love a good size difference", but now that I've seen the first…
Haha xD glad it's not just me. I keep looking at them standing next to each other and just staring, it's giving Joel Embiid and Anne de Paula, it's just about almost too much of a height and size difference lol

Oh yeah, some are just playing it 'safer' than others I guess.

I’ve heard so many people recently saying how much they loved this drama - I put it on my watch list years ago…
It unfortunately didn't get the exposure it deserved, but it's fantastic. Trust. Enjoy!

Ok um ... I don't think I'm tripping so enlighten me here ... How is this Singaporean when everything about it…
Chinese BL producers are independently producing their content in China (some to them, while others are filming internationally too) and they're using international distribution platforms to air the shows, bypassing Chinese censorship completely.

Bcs in manga he top. And look like top...in manga.
The OP is one of the people who probably prefers the long standing top and bottom stereotypes, so if they felt the actors were poorly cast, that's how they felt. I did not read the manga and did not know who was a top in the manga but I also felt Hiro's actor and character did not fit the abrupt shift they gave him in the final episode, no prior expectations, the two characters just suddenly didn't match what they'd been like in the previous episodes, making them feel ooc inside of the adaptation itself, meaning the script writing and directing was not solid or consistent. There are certain ways to portray characters when writing, whether you want them to tops/bottoms exclusively or vers. There was a lot wrong with this BL though, imo, so I'm not surprised that the pairing dynamics got lost too.

And I'll say again, it's all fine, whatever people like to watch, I never said there was anything wrong with changing anything up. My point was I understood what the OP meant about the actor and script not lining up, even more so after finding out about the manga version. There will always be those who want adaptations to follow canon, the orginal, as it were, is usually (but not always) the best. Whether it's more interesting or not is also case by case, and whether it's not interesting is the same, and it's all acceptable.

All that wasn't the point of the comment. The point was, it exists and many people will notice if it's changed. That's what the OP meant and what I was elaborating on.

Peoples feelings about it are case by case. Some like those stereotypes and some don't, nothing wrong with either pov, it is what it is.

I never thought I'd say this (because I am all for size difference) but I actually think this size difference might be a leeeeeetle too much, like, how fekkin broad and tall the singer guy is compared to the teacher is very extra. But okay, I can still watch it I think. The first episode itself was entertaining and likeable enough to keep me interested, I also liked the humor. When the teacher wore the 3 piece suit and was like 'I always dress like this, sometimes I sleep like this,' I lol'd, good awkward nerd line, good delivery too.

I did have a moment or two of confusion because I thought the actor of the singer and the teacher's landlord/roommate was the same dude at first and I thought maybe the teacher was crazy, but they've established they're not the same dude so now I can follow this more clearly.
On to episode 2!

Your comment just proves that you missed the point of what the OP pointed out and what I elaborated on.

Not starting a war here. Just a curious question because I tend to review whatever I watch and keep a note of…
These are two totally different genres, they can't be compared imo. It's like asking someone to compare how delicious fruit is when compared with chocolates, (if someone likes these things) they'll enjoy them both equally in totally different ways, neither is alike or inferior to the other. Or in movie terms, like comparing American Pie with Troy. They're both awesome and epic, but nothing alike whatsoever.

That said, they're both well done and whether people like one more than the other will represent their taste more than the two shows quality/acting/execution.

I love it when a new actor I start to like in a drama turns out to be extra likeable irl. It's very satisfying. First Zhan Xuan in RL and now Zhang Zhe Xu from K2L. Noice.
