WJY is a great actress but here, sadly, she is miscast. For the first time her age is showing despite the soft way she is shot throughout the drama and her good acting cannot cover the fact that she is too old for the role.

Can't stand grown female characters acting like demented toddlers.

Is the FL's voice her own? It has echoes of the cutesy, grating voice of Esther Yu. Also, the faces of the female cast are badly made up and puffed up somehow: the empress, the mother of the FL, the crown princess, they all look grotesque. Even the false lashes on the FL contribute to that. However, the drama is interesting up to now.

What's with the tufty hairstyles? They all look like untrimmed bushes!

I agree with you. The plot, the story, the characters are fantastic. One discordant note: the FL is totally miscast (and she is not a good actress) and badly styled. She looks like a startled, ugly bird. The hair with the bangs and the bleh facial expressions did me in for 70 episodes but other than that I loved the vast canvas of the drama.

In all the series I have seen her in, her over the top acting makes the characters she portrays not believable and almost caricature like. Her permanent sour expression and the lack of control over her facial muscles when portaying intense emotions has the opposite of the desired effect. Her exaggerated doom and gloom portrayal of the SFL in "Do You Love Brahms" ruined that wonderful drama for me. And before anyone says anything, I do not hate her, these are observations about her acting.

Annoying FL character and even more annoying actress playing the character. The drama looks like fun though.

When she speaks or smiles, certain groups of facial muscles do not move naturally, a sure sign of plastic surgery gone bad. It is so apparent and creepy in Pursuit of Jade.

She cannot act anyway, so it is preferable that she is on the fuller, healthier side than the trendy "paper thin" .

Maybe this cute, intelligent toddler should give acting lessons to the FL.

What has happened to Gulnezer Bextiyar? She looks like a shadow of her former self. Has she been ill? She is skeletal. I almost did not recognize her. So sad.

Well said! Not only the "Ave Maria", but also Mozart's "Requiem", in particular the "Dies Irae", the day of wrath and reckoning, so apt for what Fan Xiao is initiating.

An interesting, watchable drama but the hair of the MLs killed this show for me. Could not get past it.

I too watched The Manipulated first, then Dear X and now this. I am a wreck. They are all powerful dramas.
