Very interesting article. We'll have to disagree on the Netflix influence, I absolutely hate it that Netflix got involved, it will de-personalize Korean dramas. Westernization of Korean culture is something I strongly dislike and this new direction will only accelerate it. Next they will destroy Sageuk dramas I fully expect that. I prefer older dramas by far, the netflix ones are total cr@p, although "Crash landing.." was good but that's totally because Son Ye Jin is pure gold. Vincenzo was unwatchable for me. Start-Up was uber boring , only watched for the 2 beauties and because my wife liked it. The Japanese ones do not attract me at all, same with the Chinese but that's because I am an enthusiastic Korea fan :) However I respect the Japanese dramas for not going as global as the Korean. To each their own, I know I am in the minority here, everyone is gaga over netflix dramas, not me. Heck, I don't even have Netflix and i avoid watching their productions
I watched it only for Irene, she is gorgeous. The movie is an absolute waste of resources, but somehow I managed to watch the whole thing. 5/10, and that's generous :)
I thoroughly enjoyed it, although the love story was very subdued and portrayed in an entirely platonic way. Kwon Yoo Ri made a really good impression, very talented, acting suits her better than kpop. I couldn't stand the kid but luckily he was very much absent in the 2nd half. Il Woo is really cool and the main villain is pretty much the most established in historical dramas for playing the bad guy. He's literally in every single one playing the negative character, he's very good at it. 8/10
Well the original is not American, I watched this in 2002-2003 it's called "Juana la virgen" , Hispanic drama. Same story. She's a great actress so she should do well
Yoon Ah - sweet
And then there's Hyun Bin .....
Goblin
Vincenzo
All 3 absolute rubbish, good looking main characters but the "stories" -awful :)
