The accident (losing the camera) might be a coincidence or staged since the 'friend' already left a week earlier so nobody knew the truth. FL somehow knew/felt that she might be the reason ML get caught and that's why she plead with the rich guy to let ML go (dropped the chgs? ) + it's her birthday gift that cause trouble, since he won't she dared to take the responsibility and stand firm rejecting his offer. She believed the ML but if others don't (without concrete evidence) nothing will change anyway. I just think she felt guilty as well.
