I would suggest you to watch rurouni kenshin 5 part movies if you have not it's one of the best adaptation in its genre

U r wlcm I would recommend different dreams also if you want something from Japanese Imperial era similar to recent SONG OF THE BANDITS TIME PERIOD both in earlier 1900s to mid. Very underrated series (different dreams) imo natural rom storyline also

It started great but it's lost its steam ONE PIECE is hidden somewhere nd everyone has yet to find it... So far only thing that's making me continue this is leads Screentime some of my favs support chars died early in the series nd all of leads siblings are annoying sometimes that li Sheng makes sense but only sometimes. Chuchu is one annoying char... I like yang Jin nd the poison physician though currently am at 39 I get it now why this has just normal ratings I just hope it would end well

The world building of this series isn't really well done I agree with all your point I have the same questions while watching it I am at ep 38 nd idk if I should continue or not it's turning into a Melo instead end I hate that ml is gonna be a patient the whole time I was thinking after his treatment by having poisons of opposing affinity he would be able to utilize his internal energy but i don't see any hopes I might drop this
