Most likely Shen (classmate/bully), my theory is that he married his school crush and had Shen Cheng, but something happened to her when he was still a child (she probably died) and since after that kidnapping incident, Hai Tang had a good relationship with Shen's family, she offered to be Shen Cheng's mother, so she married Shen so his child would have a normal childhood/life, which is why Shen Cheng himself didn't know that she wasn't his real mother.

no it was Shen Cheng, it is his hand and the watch he was wearing since ep 1. and that just confirmes that he was not her biological son.

what an interesting theory

I started this yesterday and couldn't stop. I just finished it. It's been on my Plan to watch list for a long time. After finishing Twelve letters, I was looking for a good drama to watch. I checked out the high-rated Chinese series on MDL, and this was one of the best, so it was a reminder to start watching it. My only regret is "why didn't I watch it sooner." Now I have to start another masterpiece to forget this one, haha.

thats impossible when Shen Cheng was born, Xun was already in prison for years. plus the final scene did confirme that he was not Tang's son. + Tang and Xun didnt have that kind of relationship yet to have a kid !!!

I think what the story really wanted to illustrate was their pure love and care for each other, and how they were literally each other’s only family. Personally, I also would have liked to see more of their romance, but it makes sense why it wasn’t shown that way. In Chinese dramas, couples can only really be portrayed officially once they are adults ( just a simple example is you saw what happened because of the "love letter"), and because of how the story unfolds, they were never fully together as adults. That’s probably why the focus stayed on emotional closeness rather than adding more hug or even a kiss scene.

Him looking much older than his actual age is understandable, not only because he lived a hard life and seems unwell, but also as an illustration of how he gave up his own well-being and future for YHT. Just like in the old days, people who endured such struggles often appeared years older and had shorter lifespans. In his case, the sacrifice he made shows that his birthday wishes for her—to live happily, healthily, and well—came true, even if it meant the opposite for him.

I believe the scene with the old man and Yuzhi Hong/Yixun took place long before the disappearance, since he looked well and the weather conditions were different. The first mailbox, originally placed by the water in 1991, was likely removed during the port renovation. By 2026, it reappeared in an area farther from the water. When Yu revisited the old location, he saw the old man with the mailbox, which triggered memories of the past. From that moment, the old YiXun began waiting for new letters, convinced that he might still be able to save his lost lover. This suggests that there are only two mailboxes, but they are in fact the same one existing in different points of time. This is just my thoughts because that scene of Yixun in 2026 by the port looked like he saw the mailbox for the first time after a very long time.

I think he was waiting for a chance to speak to JY, at the same time he saw JM so he went to her bedroom before JM or otherwise he will not get a chance to talk to her + I think he wanted to strongly show to JM that he is also interested in JY. It will definitely be a hard match between the two, especially SY has a very strong personality and radiates high confidence. As for JY, I wasn't entirely sure what she is thinking, but after this week's episode, I'm pretty sure JM is currently her first choice, and SY still has a long way to go if he wants to win her over. As for JM, I'm no longer worried about him because he's doing his best, and I respect him for that. He's still my favorite character on the show and I loved how JY is confortable with him (idk if this a good thing ) and told him about her lunch date with WJ, both of them are honest, clear and direct.

Yes I have the same opinion he did everything he could and Jeyeon has the right to choose and pursue the person she loves as he did too and Jimin knows and understands that. As he said in the beginning he knows things are unlikely to go his way but he will do his best which I respected him for, now things are more chaotic and he definitely didn't expect all of this so it may take longer for him to adjust again.
