The novel was released eleven years ago, and they had to update the story in quite a lot of places to be in line with current sensibilities. The football incident, for example, wasn't in the novel. (In the novel, Phum called Peem names like shortie, which wouldn't work anyway as Phuwin was nowhere near short.)
The project was left on the drawing board for over a year. Casting was a hard part, as the story needed a big cast with many distinct characters. He proposed the project to GMMTV, who were interested and picked it up.
Studio Wabi Sabi is still doing everything as they used to. Their next big project is Fourever You Project.
He's working on so many university stories that he can't remember what faculty a character is studying in.
In the novel, Tan and Fang are already in a relationship - they adjusted their story to have something to tell.
Things were always extremely chaotic on set, especially when the entire friend group were in the scene. Usually New will go on set to brief the actors directly, but here he gave up after the first few shoots and radioed them while sitting in front of the monitor instead. Otherwise, it was nearly impossible to get all 11 actors together as something was always happening. (He says Phuwin, Aou and Marc were usually the first ones to be ready, though).
After We Are, he has Perfect 10 Liners lined up next. It was supposed to begin shooting by the end of May, but will have to be pushed back a bit following We Are's delay. (We Are was delayed by a month.) He's especially looking forward to working with Perth, whom he hasn't worked with in 7 years.
There's another team working on Fourever Project, which will be produced around the same time.
Production on the Vampire Project will follow P10L.
Studio Wabi Sabi isn't going anywhere, in fact they're building a new office building.
