These days Casting and making stories around "most followed/popular ML/FL" has really watered down the Chinese drama content like this is why can't see another three kingdoms or advisors alliance type of dramas.... Everything is so polished to cater the Leads' followers and showing them in spotlight which is really taking a toll on the content. Like there's no soul to the content apart from the lead. Cdramas should go back to multi-starrer multi lead stories focused on delivering good content.
Small example : My journey to you - it's brilliant and one of the main reason was content and gave every character the spotlight to shine.. it didn't feel like a generic predictable la la landish story but the Leads' fans were pissed coz they didn't get " the shine/spotlight" and campaigned against the drama... such is the toxicity
