I'm upset Greta Lee was not nominated for Best Actress and Celine Song for Best Director but a Best Picture and Screenplay nominations were highly deserved.
As a former queer kid myself, I related to Minato so much. The confusing and frustrating feelings inside you. The amount of heteronormative shit you hear from your parents and the homophobic things you see and hear (in the movie, where Minato was watching a show where a drag queen was being a laughed at, that scene hurts me). All of those things bubble inside you, and you kept on asking, "am I normal?". Also that dialogue, where he said, "But I like someone, I can't tell anyone so I lie. Cause they'll know, I can never be happy.". That was my exact thought process when I was growing up. I can talk about this movie for days on end.
I'm so happy this is getting more recognition. Hopefully it gets chosen as Japan's contender for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars, it highly deserves it.
"To say you love a boy, but I don't think there are really words to describe this, but there is nothing odd about loving another boy. I think it would be good if this was viewed as a natural thing."
One of the best Queer Coming of Age films I have seen. I related to Minato so much. Growing up I felt so much self shame of who I was, I wanted to find solace and freedom. This film was just beautiful.

Cryinggg. Saw this on Twitter (https://twitter.com/vivawatermelon/status/1745351280225308786) and it's from the presscon for Monster.
It deservingly won the Queer Palm award in the Cannes Film Festival
