I'm telling you, the excitement is worth it!!You made the right decision by rewatching season 1, it'll make you…
Li Yun Rui: That child might look like a normal person on the surface, but only I know that he's as crazy as me on the inside π My absolute favourite line of the series so far!

I couldn't stop laughing every time someone would ask where he was...must have been some inside joke for the people working on the series, I imagine. I thought it was quite amusing, really. Anyway, I'm up to the episode where they're trying to convince Fan Xian to try on clothes for the wedding. He is too funny π This season is even funnier than the last season. Fan Sizhe's get rich quick scheme for Fan Xian's wedding (and divorce, and remarriage, etc...) was just too much! π€£
I've only just started watching this and she seems to be the nicest of everyone...I'm assuming that changes somewhere…
I finished it at last! Definitely has to be one of the best drama series I have ever watched. I was never bored once. The tendency not to age anyone was a bit off putting, but could be ignored. I loved the storytelling, the portrayals and particularly the music. Everything was truly top notch. very glad I watched this, and might even rewatch it one day in the future. π

I've just started episode 31 where they've made the discovery of the musk... everyone in this series, from the Emperor and his mother (who apparently was referencing this in the conversation prior, although it wasn't made clear then), to practically every member of the harem is certifiably insane! Who does something like that to someone they supposedly love? This Emperor really is something else!

The conversation with his mother at the end of the episode demonstrates this clearly, as she pretty much determined that it's all Huan Huan's fault. She was poisoned and now her body is too weak for pregnancy. Everyone else is absolved now, and that's that!

I just finished the episode. I loved where Huan Huan says to the Emperor 'You knew how cruel she is. Why would you give her so much power?' And he replies somewhat disingenuously (after saying 'Its all my fault' at least three different times) 'Are you blaming me for what happened now?'
The look of disdain and utter contempt on her face when she said 'I don't dare to'...wow! That was intense!

I'm on episode 30 now, and it seems like, for the moment, he's finally got a grip on the reality of what an evil person his favourite truly is. He called Hua Fei a slut! He called her cold hearted and all sorts of other fun stuff, and then demoted her. It's a bit tame for killing the royal offspring, but she's the general's sister, so I know his hands are kinda tied. I think anyone else would at least have been sent to the Cold Palace for the same offence. My only problem is that he is such an idiot, I'm convinced that within an episode or two, he'll soften toward her again, and all will be just as before. How annoying...

I am on episode 28 now, and I have to say this Emperor is making my blood boil! His uncle tells him that several people are now homeless because the general razed their houses in order to build a garden for his newly expanded mansion, and the Emperor's reply is 'Well that's normal!' Seriously? And not one word about helping the people who lost their homes, or any criticism at all regarding such a wonton and brazen act on the part of the general. And then praising the general in front of everyone after he refused to let any of the Imperial physicians treat the Empress when she was ill...what a way to let the Empress know just how little he thinks of her. She's the Empress! The Mother of the Nation! And he just brushes it off and says everyone should do as the general did. I honestly don't get it at all. It was the utter stupidity of the Emperor that made me stop watching Ruyi's Love in the Palace. (What can I say...I like harem dramas...It's a curse π) I really hope this Emperor doesn't drive me to drop this one too, because other than him, I really do like the series. But he is pissing me the F**K OFF! π‘

By the time I started watching it, there were 14 episodes available to watch. I watched them all in one sitting! π I'm now waiting for the next 7 episodes as you did, so I can watch them all together as well. I hate the idea of watching 1, and then having to wait until the next one. It's extremely frustrating... particularly in such a fast moving drama like this one. One's adrenaline just never stops rushing! π

Not at all! Many thanks for your concern, though π I am just disappointed because I thought the friendship between those three was refreshing when compared to all of the other vicious women in the harem. It saddens me that it will eventually come to an end. I'm at episode 21 now, where An discovered that she had a 'mole' in her palace. With the other one under house arrest, I suppose this is the beginning of the end for the 'sisterhood'. Pity... It's an incredible drama series, though. I of course intend to continue watching until the end.
I haven't started this yet, as I am rewatching Season 1 to reacquaint myself with all of the characters and prior events, as it's been a few years since I last watched it. I have to say, thanks to your review, I am more excited than ever to get started on Season 2. I am particularly intrigued by the fact that the Princess Royal will be appearing in this one as well, which means that he doesn't rid himself of this arch-nemesis in the first season (I couldn't remember whether he had done or not...) This is really an exciting rollercoaster of a series and I can't wait to dive into Season 2, which I should be able to do shortly, as I am presently binge watching Season 1 since the week-end and am now on episode 32. I should be finished by tomorrow the latest π
Excellent review! I liked the reference to a 'masculine cocktail' of various ingredients within the drama. There was none of the usual 'female empowerment' propaganda almost every one of these dramas seems obligated to have in generous helpings. There wasn't any 'badass female' who spends the entire series comparing to ensure that her balls are bigger than those of every man in the entire world. (Well, actually there was one...but she wasn't a major character and so didn't annoy me as much as she could have done). And best of all, not one female had the squeaky, annoying whining voice of a 7 year old girl, as too many of these dramas are wont to have. I was so grateful for all of that!
It was just an incredible drama with incredible characters and actors, and now I can get started on Season 2 at last!
I've just finished watching episode 3 and was about to toss this series into the scrap heap because of that annoying girl...she thoroughly gets on my nerves every time she is onscreen. But having read this review, I suppose I'll slog through at least a few more episodes to see whether it gets any better.
I would really like to see him in something that is not a WayuFilm short bl movie! You have done enough: time…
According to WayuFilm's latest release The Star (on YouTube as of a week ago), Both Mon and Oak's contracts with the company have expired and they are no longer with WayuFilm. So, as you said, hopefully we will see Mon (and Oak as well) able to do something else, more expansive, more exciting and more challenging. I look forward to it!
I won't make any guarantees because I honestly don't know. I have been using the app for over a year now and the worst thing I've come across is the sometimes innumerable pop-up ads, at which time I end up having to reboot my phone in order to be able to continue watching. But interestingly, depending upon the time or the show one is watching, very often one does not encounter any ads at all. I just look at it as the price one pays for being able to watch anything one wants for free. Because there is nothing in life that is actually 'free' after all.
