Absolutely! 100%. This conflation of actor and character, and other idolization/objectifying delusions, makes people think that they're entitled to everything about about a celebrity. No one should have to be subject to this level of attention, harassment, and inappropriateness - whether it be as simple as an inappropriate none-of-your-business question, or this extreme case of stalking and blackmail. How can anyone call themselves a fan when they cannot see their favorites as human beings first.
It always hurts and makes me sick that so many celebrities feel the need to apologize for things that have done absolutely no harm. And things that bring them happiness. Dating being chief among those things. These so-called fans make the entertainment industry a truly unwelcome and unfriendly space. And then wonder why there are news about their idols' deaths and retirements left-and-right.
what people are doing to freen and becky is so absurdly disgusting. the show, the photoshoots, and interviews…
Not just the fan who stalked, filmed, and blackmailed her. But also all the fans who are condemning her, praising the truth being out, and feeling sorry for Becky.
These celebrities are real life people. They deserve and deserved to explore their relationships in private, away from press, scrutiny, and harassment. I dont blame them AT ALL for keeping their relationship private, especially since we dont know how far along in their relationship they are and they probably wanted to make sure that their relationship was stable enough before heading to the press.
Also, fanservice is literally, contractually a part of the Thai bl and gl entertainment industry. It is what veteran BL fans have been saying from the get-go. It is what numerous actors and even directors have been telling you for YEARS. What you see on the stage at fan events and other promotional events IS NOT 100% REALITY. They are promoting their dramas, both finished and future, there. Selling you on the ship with their on-screen partner that producers and fans expect them to be paired up with for life. They do not owe you that same pairing in their private lives.
What that person did is not some disappointed fan who exposed the truth to the world because they wanted other people not to be deceived. This was a stalker. A blackmailer. Someone who thinks celebrities shouldn’t have privacy, because they are first and foremost celebrities and not people. Someone who knew celebrities are expected to protect their on-screen ship because of fans and sponsors, and used that knowledge to try and make money and tear down the actors.
After premiering at the US's Slamdance Festival and the New York Asian Film Festival, this film will be showing back home in the Philippines as Cinemalaya 2023’s closing film on August 13.
