i love this so much ive been waiting for a while now to see miao miao and shes just as cute as expected the only…
I could be remembering it wrong, but this is already high budgeted drama. It's an S drama kind of high. And maybe it's just me but in the cdramas I've watched this year, this has the cleanest cgi so far.
I think there hasn't been a year that I haven't rewatched this ever since this has been released, excluding the family stuff. It's funny how I cringe and stay away from cliche plot devices but in this drama's case, I can't stop myself from watching them be the actual thing I hate.
It's my SIXTH TIME dropping this show, i just can't get into it as seriously don't understand why the rating is…
Not gonna lie, if you think it's boring and draggy from the first couple of episodes, this show might not be for you. At what episode do you usually tend to drop this show?
I personally think it does not necessarily pick up in any episodes because really, it's a story of two immortals having this push and pull type of dynamics while balancing the burdens they have on their shoulders. It's a slow burn, and even one of the most critical scenes isn't even that intense (if we're gonna use other dramas being aired as a standard of what intense is), they were literally just talking at that scene. They're mature and has thousands of years of experiences under their belts, and it shows throughout the episodes.
But if you really want an episode, I think episode 23 is a fair choice of when it sorts of pickup. Though everything before that is as important as the ones after. Anyway, I hope this gives you a bit of an insight!
You are right, the story ended in episode 38. Episode 39 is actually a side story in the novel this drama is based…
Unfortunately this wasn't showed in the novel either. The only thing the novel had was that children's (yes, children) cries were heard in the courtyard and Mu zichun and Lady Jin bringing their child to visit the still pregnant Shen Li and even that part was narrated in less than 5 sentences 🤣
My second time to watch Li Geng Xin in a drama. First was My Bargain Queen. I think his role here is way better.…
You are right, the story ended in episode 38. Episode 39 is actually a side story in the novel this drama is based from, so while indeed it's unnecessary, it's the "let's show what their life is 20 years after the main story" kind of thing,
Ngl, sometimes I'm reminded by the fact that Furong kept on sliding to the floor all the way to his grandfather and it's really one of the things you would think it's cringey but all I could do was laugh watching him do that.
Totally agree with and the adaptations fleshed out stuff and made some comedic or dramatic moments. I can now…
All of the changes in the novel were the things JLFX would've probably wanted to change, since she's the only credited screenwriter of this drama and it made the changes way more sentimental for me
I’m about midway through the novel so look forward to reading the rest in detail. So glad they remained faithful…
Somehow it's simplicity and straightforwardness is the reason why I liked this novel in the first place. It has showed me that xianxia plots doesn't have to be complicated and full of misunderstadings, which is something JLFX has done to her other works as well.

It's definitely not the best novel out there in the market but I find JLFX's novels (Seven unfortunate lifetimes, and Accompanying the phoenix specifically) to be a breath of fresh air in the xianxia genre, so in a sense I put them in a high regard. If there is one thing that I can point out that they did better in the drama, it's Furong's character development. He's honestly my favourite supporting character rn.
As a novel reader, I honestly couldn't ask for more. They've adapted the drama so well that I'm really starting to think that this might be my favourite JLFX drama just because of the sheer effort they've put on to get as close as they can with the original work. I love the previous JLFX drama adaptations but seeing the novel I've come to know and love through words come to life hits differently.
But ep 39..Last EP was Useless 😭😭 No offense but what's with that couple and their sudden story? the guy…
To give context, the last episode isn't included in the main story of the novel. It's a side story so you can see why it seems a bit out of the plot. I honestly liked it because it showed it's 20 years after ep 38, it's sort of a testament that they are living peacefully, we were just graced to witness a day in their life.
He knows that the only time he would abuse his powers is when Shen Li gets hurt. He is afraid to lose her for…
No worries I figured that out. Really just wanted to add my opinion in case other people read our comments and take Xing Zhi's decision in a negative way. :D
Watching ep 32: “oh no, he didn’t…did the ML just caged my girl??”
He knows that the only time he would abuse his powers is when Shen Li gets hurt. He is afraid to lose her for the second time because he knows he will go crazy if that happens again. He has tons to do and fix a lot of things: fix the extranatural realm, solve this issue with Fu Sheng, and the thought of Shen Li getting in danger because her azure pearl is what Fu Sheng wants, he's at his wits end. I wouldn't blame him if that's the only thing he could think of right now to keep her safe.
Another point is that Shen Li hasn't fully recovered yet (I can't remember if the drama already mentioned it but in the novel this was mentioned). She's stronger, but still not in her peak condition. And knowing Shen Li? She will never hesitate to go back to the battlefield if left unattended for a second.
For those of you like me who have been watching C dramas for years now... I miss the 50-70 episode length so much.…
Technically this drama specifically is following the novel pretty much faithfully and while it could definitely finish the whole novel within 40 episodes, I wouldn't mind having more filler scenes. I would love to have maybe an extra episode or 2 of the fisherman arc. That had a lot of potential for domestic scenes.
Hey guys? What do you guys think of that AvenueX girl on YouTube doing drama review??? I know she is bias and…
omg I was actually waiting for her review considering and was expecting it to be positive considering all of the platforms I'm active on (MDL, twitter, reddit) really enjoys the drama. There's really a reason why I stopped watching her videos.
