He signed suki (i like you). There's this japanese drama called hoshi furu yoru ni and in that drama ml has hearing problem, and uses sign language. He does the same sign when he tells fl I like you.

They haven't shown the actual ages yet but it seems she is in her thirties and the ml is preparing for jobs after graduating which means he should be in his early twenties. So maybe age difference is not more than 10 in the drama
