After watching the table read I feel like all those posts claiming that crew memebers said they edited out a lot of intimate scenes were false, seems the only major scene edited out was that meeting the parents(graveyard scene)which we all saw anyway lol.
I don't know about the novel but in the series they meet in the clinic for the first time and slowly become buddies.
I think that's because they show time passing fast, he is dumped, gets injured goes to dr they become acquaintances, dr helps him with the glow up, later become friends. I agree though it could have been better if they added more depth to it but perhaps they didn't have enough eps for that and they wanted to start with the main plot
