On Weibo now, ZLH is getting even more hate. I thought it couldn't get worse, but it did. I honestly feel so bad for him. No one deserves this level of ridiculous hate.

Fans dismissed it as some low-self-esteem egoistical men who cannot stand that women don't want to look at their ugly asses over someone like ZLH. I really really thought it couldn't get worse than this. But it did.
An official account of the army or military or smth, posted about it, saying that "recent historical drama has "generals" that are "too soft, too pretty, use foundation", they cannot hold the "social responsibility of cultivating masculinity", and that it "hurts historical accuracy". Then the biggest newspaper, People's Daily newspaper reposted it. They didn't mention POJ specifically, but we all know who they're referring to.
Sigh. To that. I am disappointed and sad but not surprised. Of all dramas, they used POJ as a stepping stone to "open fire" on the entertainment industry. If I daresay, it's a bunch of old men, who have power, and are using this as an excuse to shit on women and their opinions.
Because why is it suddenly a problem for male generals to be pretty. Why is it a problem for a character to be considered more "feminine"? Why is being pretty only considered feminine? And why is being feminine considered a bad thing? Who even gets to decide what is "appropriate femineity or masculinity"? Does being masculine means you need to look and act like a caveman all the time?
Why is it suddenly a problem, when no one ever said ANYTHING about LOTS of female characters who are also generals/fight well, for example game characters that have huge chests and wear impossibly short mini skirts and also put on makeup, that have nothing to do with fighting. Why is it that this, a norm that benefits the male gaze, none of them said anything about it. But when a male general is "pretty", it suddenly hurts their ego and it is "wrong" and "historically inaccurate".
In the first place POJ didn't even claim to be a historically accurate drama. It is a script that is written from an online novel, for god's sake. And why do they put out this notice right before POJ is about to end? Probably because it got too popular. This world hates women too much. And their using POJ and ZLH as an excuse to preach about "appropriate masculinity", when the underlying meaning is to shit on "femineity".
ZLH fans are trying to defend him. But what can we do, really, when even the country's officials are saying such ridiculous things.
So basically it was not censorship but the production or channel edited out the bed scene in episode 38 because…
