Wow! A very talented family. I love Zhang Rouyun and Bai Yu. They are both awesome actors
The Bond was fascinating because of the insights into life in China in the 70s and 80s. Felt like similar genre to Go Ahead. Ordinary people trying their best to live their lives as well as possible, making mistakes along the way.
I'm staying away from the Ma Yili drama. Reviews are not positive. Haha.
Tyvm - I kind of expected many of them not to make it from the title itself but I think they went a bit too far!!!
The title I was aware of was A Journey to Love. Didn't expect the journey to love would end this way. Yu Shisan should have survived and got himself a spin-off drama. Haha.
Thank you for the well-written review. Great show. Not flashy, no in-your-face comedy just realistic characters in a believable and warm storyline.
The significance of food and meals with loved ones resonated with me. The chemistry between the main couple was quite good, and the supporting cast was likeable especially the best friend. The dynamics between the daughter and mother was a bit too perfect though.
Loved this: "Thus the first time he meets Lu Yuan is when she loves him most. And the first time Lu Yuan meets Shen Buyan is when he loves her most." So true.
Drama has a refreshing storyline. It certainly made me think of how people of the past were shaped by the history we were fed; they might not be accurate. As they say, history is written by victors.
The dubbing was so soooo bad. Why did they use that voice actor for the ML?! It didn’t match at all. Was thinking could it have been a budget constraint? Not low enough, not skilled enough…
I was expecting FL to be more instrumental in the unraveling of the final plot, cos it’s supposed to be her legend. Such a pity.
Ty for reading. Its been difficult to find something else as visually appealing. 😅😀
I tried Young Blood before, but gave up after a few minutes. Don't really like Zhang Xin Cheng after watching him in Go Ahead. But that was quite a while back. Will give it another go.
Shows like My Journey To You spoil my ability to enjoy lower budget shows :P Each episode was like watching a high-budget movie.

Oooh thanks for the recommendation. Will watch it with hubby.
I thought the fight scenes in My Journey were cool. But then I watch these sequences without analysing too much.
Some of the wuxias we liked were Joy of Life, Side Story of Fox Volant and The Ingenious One. Heavenly Sword was good for the fights, but didn't enjoy the ML's acting.

The camera work was absolutely stunning. So many gorgeous scenes. People were beautiful...just too much make-up on the men esp ML. He's already very very good looking.
Meanwhile my hubby was not too happy with the fighting scenes. Too stylised and not enough details/flow. He wants to watch wuxias like Sword Snow Stride :P
When he complained about the amount of "music videos" I had to remind him that the title was My Journey To You. So romance was part of the package. Hahaha.
If you're curious to know about YSX as voice actress since some only knows her cute voice since MJTY and CLJ (Goddess…
Oh wow! I was so wrong to judge her based on her voice in the Devil/Fairy drama. The collection displays her wide range in her voice acting. I'm so sooo impressed. Thank you for sharing the links :)
Thank you for your comment. Many xianxia dramas do not give you a definite happy or sad ending. It's either an…
I see. Now that I know, I should not get too annoyed :P
Our poor girl shortened her life for him, and then have to live the rest of her 27 years without her love. But the scaredy cat brother gets to become emperor and live happily ever after. There is no justice in this drama world. Sigh.
My fave review of this drama. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I almost gave up at the early episodes cos it was sooo s-l-o-w. Haha.
But it got more interesting later on. I agree that the leads lacked chemistry. Just not convincing at all. Still I was hoping for a good ending. What did you mean by a very xiaxia ending? That he would only appear in her imagination when the flower bloomed?

Loved The Bond as well. I'm looking forward to Parallel World.
I love Zhang Rouyun and Bai Yu. They are both awesome actors <3
I prefer your alternate ending. Killing off almost everyone didn’t make sense at all 😢

I'm going to rewatch some of the recipes too :p
Overall, a very enjoyable drama ❤️

The analysis at the end was super helpful. Thank you <3
