He doesn't have a good costume drama till now. I think that's why he's still in the list of ' WAITING TO EXPLODE '. If he continue to work in modern how good the script be, I fear he would be stereotyped in modern ( already in some fan and netizen's eye). Maybe he doesn't want to act in a female centric costume drama. Best to wait for a good costume script.
