There’s still a lurking photographer; is that part of BH’s gang or the narc division? Let’s see how the…
But if she's really a CI, her background would have been wiped and the only "necessary convenient" information about her could be found out now, such as her tragic history with the ML when they were 14/16. This hx could be found to work in her favor with her CI identity. It looks like the drug boss was able to dig up that very info about her and the ML already but I highly doubt ML will find anything that would reveal that she's a CI so early. He may find that after she went overseas after the incident how her path may have crossed with the drug boss though. And that could tip him off.
You should hold off. I'll watch 9-12 and I'll come back and let you know. Lol. The teasers for 9-12 look really…
Okay let me watch through 12 & then I'll come back. Ep 12 is when the ML gets disoriented after being drugged (at least that's what the teaser shows). So something is going to happen by the end of this episode so won't be until late Saturday I'll come back and let you know lol. 😂
Gong Jun’s line delivery and acting are strong here. I’ve often heard people say his performance can be inconsistent, and I can see where that reputation comes from, but in this, I really don’t mind his portrayal at all. He’s sometimes labeled as stiff, yet I don’t see that here, at least up through episode 8. It doesn’t feel like he’s struggling with the role, and that genuinely surprised me.
I am puzzled, since this was filmed three years ago and his delivery here feels noticeably stronger than in some of his later works, like Rising Against the Wind and LoA.
Pacing: I’m happy with how ML & FL screen time has been handled so far. It’s a 30-episode drama, so there’s still plenty of time left. I also thought their reunion in Episode 8 had really good execution and pacing.
I’ll admit there are some slower moments. For instance, certain scenes that could be conveyed in 5–6 seconds are stretched out to several minutes. One example that really stood out was a scene where a perpetrator climbs a tree (the peeping Tom), I actually rewound and timed it, and it took two full minutes just to show that. It felt completely unnecessary.
This drama isn’t bad, but I’m very torn between continuing it now or putting it on hold and waiting for more…

In the two trailers so far, GJ really does look natural. His body language, micro-expressions, even the way he holds himself feels relaxed and unforced. You can tell this was filmed back in 2023, before Rising Against the Wind, Legend of Anle, and definitely before Blood River, where everything about his performance felt heavier and more… constrained.
Here, he doesn’t look like he’s “performing GJ." He just looks like he’s being the character. That alone is already a win.
And honestly? The lack of massive hype might actually be a blessing. When something isn’t buried under expectations like BR was, it has room to breathe. Note: And I love Blood River.
Sometimes those quieter projects end up being the most satisfying because I'm watching with curiosity instead of anxiety cheering him on as all his projects always get both sides of the internet. 😅🫣
In the trailer, Gong Jun doesn’t look overly “polished,” and that’s a good thing for me. I’m craving something raw and action-heavy, and if any genre can deliver that, it’s crime or police dramas. I watched about a dozen episodes of The Truth Within and couldn’t finish it, so we’ll see how this one goes. I really hope it’s not boring.
Based on the trailer, do you think Gong Jun’s character might be an informant spying on the female lead for intelligence? I’m going in completely blind this time, which honestly makes me even more excited. Definitely tuning in on Tuesday… even though my wallet is already crying. 😭

thank you for a very thoughtful reveiw when i watched BR i too had not been following the series honestly didnt…
Yes I liked BR a lot as a standalone. I do not plan to watch the other two. There will be a sequel, I heard. ☺️ It depends on what they'll do with it; maybe I'll try it. But if the same cast isn't in it I probably won't.
I hope Qingqing and Guo Yun will have a lot of scenes together even if they have a sibling-like relationshiphttps://x.com/i/status/2000228470279024951https://x.com/i/status/2000205400906600606https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5243865940627966#&videohttps://m.weibo.cn/detail/5243864102997308https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5243889730459065
i am just hoping for summer 2026i mean, if they finished this week, and then there is post production, and then…
I think it's going to be in the fall! I'm gonna call it to be in November or December of 2026! Why? The scenes have snow and rain and it'll be more suited to the seasons in China to "set the vibe".
