I think directors have already taken quite a lot of artistic liberty when portraying their ancient times FL as feisty, speak their minds types, I think that would have been the end of the FL character back in ancient times. LOL

Yes, so ture!!! Street smarts are different back then where there are no instant meals and everything was made fresh and from scratch. A woman who can do that and forage the forest to supplement the family meals is more valuable than one who is a vocal militant. 🤪😂

At the end of the day, dramas are also commercial vehicles. Yes, it is worrying that they will become cookie cutter due to the demands of investors. Some novel to drama stories have been butchered due to investor demands.

I think beauty helps open doors but can only take one so far. At the end of the day it is one's talent that would ensure longevity in the entertainment industry. Many a pretty face has dropped off the radar because their acting did not improve over several dramas. Some folks follow the evolution of an artiste. It is nice to see one's favourite artiste gradually improving over several dramas and getting bigger and better roles.

Vocal militant types are everywhere I guess. Having been to a few MDL pages, I think this page has some of the milder variety. LOL

And I think it could be cultural and time period disconnect folks have. People forget these dramas are set in ancient times where ladies were expected to stay home, be gentle, not speak their mind etc It's the opposite these days. A woman now can be whatever she chooses to be. I guess that makes it hard to reconcile certain behaviours including wide eyed innocence and someone being soft spoken / cute.

Anyways, whatever rocks one's boat. =) These dramas are just here to entertain us, pick the ones that resonate and skip the others right?

Bland is an opinion also. But not the actor's fault if they are told to portray the character like so. Even I will say the director directed the Jing character to be so MEH, it's not Weiwei's fault too. So it's just an opinion, an observation, chill people, chill. LOL

It is ok, people can say whatever they want, but no need to be so unkind right? Maybe they are a Reba fan, but Reba's beauty does not suit certain characters etc.

And some folks need to be less sensitive. People sprout crap about Xixi and Weiwei all the time. But we acknowledge that our Xixi is indeed on the slimmer side, it is not his fault. And Weiwei is on the quieter side. etc, Nothing so serious that we need to go all out and scold the person who wrote that comment right? LOL
