very decent other than the fact that ML unrealistically simp-ish
I agree that the ML’s unconditional devotion bordered on obsession. His love felt so unhealthy and almost pathetic, perfectly illustrating the quote: "It is our imagination that is responsible for love, not the other person." That said, I have to admit the actor is fantastic in the role of someone who completely loses all sense of proportion in love and loves way too tenderly. That scene where he humbly takes off the FL’s shoes and carefully puts slippers on her, while she just stares at him with that indifferent, icy look… Absolute masterpiece! Wang Haozhen is completely believable to me as a scorned man, even though rationally it’s hard to wrap your head around how someone with his looks and social status would settle for such a marginal place in any woman’s heart. But for the duration of the drama, I totally buy it. All in all, it was really enjoyable to watch.
