People who are new to kdrama may not know him
They still think that handsome faced leads,and their idol leads are the best actors
Poor them
But people who followed kdrama from a very long time can clearly tell who the actual talent are
Kim Nam Gil, Nam Goong min, Kim Jae Wook, Shin Sung Rok, Yoo Yeon Seok ,Jo In sung ,Lee Joon Gi are some of the most talented actors

The persons acting ability depends on his characterisation how the writer made
HaeSoo’s character was poorly written
As you said the first thing she did was to flirt with her dying cousin’s husband, which is crazy
On top of that She always had that pitiful look through out the drama, she always mentioned she understood Wang So but she was the one who went odds with him in later part of the drama when he needed her the most
I didn’t like how she defended her friend getting punished that her only mistake was to borm slave
I agree that she was born slave and had to take orders but that doesn’t make her excuse from the crimes she committed in the name of love.
Heights of hypocrisy-
She wants to distant herself from Wang So because he’s killing his brothers in the name of love but she defends her maid who caused 10 prince death
Oh when ever I watch Baek Hyun’s death ,I cry….
Maybe that’s why I didn’t like IU in that drama because I never got any positive vibe from Hae So

While in contrast I liked So Yong’s character in Mr .Queen
Keeping comedy angle aside ,So Yong had a strong impact in the story unlike HaeSoo
She used her smartness from 21st century and made it seem like a modern woman in Joseon dynasty
But Hye Soo behaved more like the woman from Goryeo dynasty,she never really gave the feeling of modern woman in 11th century except in the initial episodes for comic angle ….

Hmm what ever ,this drama still hurts when ever watched

What’s the point of Wang So becoming the king …
It hurts to see him all alone .
Neither he can get close to his daughter nor his son is allowed to get close to him

That’s bad ,he himself was a product of neglected parenting
His son has nothing to do with his mother’s atrocities

Wang so was barbaric in his approach
It works in this drama but in real time woman run away no matter how good his inner intentions are

The only thing I didn’t like in this drama was IU’s acting (even now )and put hold on her future works then
But
God she improved gigantically in her acting skills that MyMister is my all time favourite drama now and guess what IU is one of my favourite actress

Literally she made me emotionally connect through her character in My Mister which was what missing in HaeSo

Now matter how many people defend her in Scarlet heart, she acted blandly here
It maybe because of such awesome actors around her which made her acting bad In this drama …

Their death was unnecessary
I mean I didn’t even find any strong reason to kill him off
He was not even a competitor for throne ( except for the fact that he was the king’s son) , and he doesn’t even have his maternal family to support him like the rest of his stepbrothers
he could have simply banished him from the kingdom

There’s nothing good to talk about this drama

JKY must be kicking himself for choosing this script because of SHK popularity ,but still he could’ve turned the things in his favour with his acting since SHK can’t act anyhow like BoGum did in encounter, but the funny thing is he was equally bad at acting along with her

Bad Actors (literally gave dead fish expressions)
Bad script
Bad dialogues
Bad direction
Bad costumes (both the ML and FL)

The only relief for me was Sehun but too bad he barely got any screen space

SHK better stop choosing melodrama (I know it’s hard for her to act in other genres ,so she only chooses melodramas but atleast she should act well in her comfort zone)
And she better stop pairing up with young actor (her next project is with Lee Do Hyun 🤦🏻‍♀️)

JKY should choose a better script like Kill it for his comeback after military service
