Ok final thoughts now that I'm done with the whole show and had some time to think over my thoughts
Firstly, the 1st episode really shocked me, especially that gang rape scene. I still think it was really unnecessary and should've never made it into the final cut, even though it was pulled from the novel. It really ruined Chi Cheng for me for like 15 episodes. I hated even looking at him, even his pretty face couldn't save him. Ultimately it was his relationship with WSW that kind of redeemed him, and I admit, I considered his time in jail as my own justice for his fucked up behaviour at the beginning.
The storyline was pretty good, the plot's not super duper original tbh, I've probably read about a dozen manhwas with the same plot. The acting was really good, especially Tian Xu Ning. I wasn't a huge fan of him, but that's a testament to how well he did his job, so I really applaud him there. None of the characters in this show were angels, and I love how they really showcased that here. Every single person was flawed, but it doesn't mean that they didn't deserve love or happiness.
Also, CC and GCY's weird and kind of sexual relationship really had me questioning who the couple was, their crazy chemistry didn't help at all lol. I did my research and apparently, what they showed us in the show (i.e. the smooching) wasn't even all of it. In the novel, they had a threesome with WS, and even masturbated together when CC was staying at GCY's apartment during his and WSW's brief breakup... like wtf??? No wonder WS felt like a 3rd wheel with those two. They need some serious boundaries...
Overall, a solid 8/10. I'm probs in the minority who thinks this show's current rating is fair lol
He's a red flag but he won't do anything as awful as this after this scene. His character is someone that is forceful…
Oh slay, I'm glad someone else agrees with me about that particular scene. Real life is already messed up as it is, why do we have to see that on our screens too... I'm on episode 2 now and enjoying it so far!!
Hello!Chi Cheng is supposed to be twisted, and this scene greatly establishes that. In the beginning he will also…
You legend! Thanks so much!!
I wasn't gonna drop it btw, I just have very low tolerance for despicable characters that use rape like that (i.e. Lhong from TharnType the Series who, like Chi Cheng, arranged for another character to get gang raped and it gave him a lifetime of trauma) which made it very hard for me to do my usual ritual of turning off my brain and watching lol.
But now that I know there's character growth down the line, I can continue watching this with an open mind. Also, I figured that there must be a reason why there's so many Chi Cheng defenders out there, I'm excited to find out why haha
It might be too early to judge from episode 1 but am I supposed to cheer for Chi Cheng...? The same dude who just had one of his boy toys get gang raped by his henchmen....? I know people aren't perfect but how do I overlook this?? Is he going to improve?? ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Do we know if this is even a BL? I don’t seen an LGBTQ+ tag. Both actors are pretty well known in their own right, so I hope this isn’t turned into a bromance like other shows with famous actors just to save face…
I really liked this movie, but I think the ending where they were old was really unimportant, Because the fact…
I'm afraid that's the whole reason the director made this movie... it's what he wished would have happened with him and his first love after they had that tragic phone call.
This is not a show I can bare to watch more than once (much like Your Name Engraved Herein), any time I miss it, I'll just binge as many edits as I can to keep my afloat until I need my next hit. This show is proof to what south korean media (queer or otherwise) can look like if they weren't so homophobic and afraid of success.
They're both definitely mentally ill (talking to plants and thinking they're talking back, breaking and entering into a stranger's life, etc) but DAMN was this not a solid 10/10 show... I'm almost mad that I didn't watch it sooner.
I like that kataoka knew from the 1st episode that odajima is trying to kill him, it changes the dynamic of their relationship. I despise shows where one party is out to kill the other, and the other party is just falling in love on their own with no idea that their SO is actively trying to murder them. It's very unbalanced and frustrating to watch tbh.
This might be a hot take but idc I need to say it… where was this support the MIL is currently showing XY?? She had her walking on eggshells when she was still her DIL but I’m supposed to believe that she’s been nice the whole time?? I’m all for redemption arcs and character development but in this instance it’s way too random and lazily done.
Yes, she is a fraud. But she's not the worst person. ML is toxic and wants to use power to control her. And her…
When you see how her parents act, I completely understand why she'd hide having such vile and embarrassing parents from other people. Imagine having to explain to your in-laws that no matter how terribly they'd treat her it'll never be as bad as how her biological parents have treated her all her life... honestly if I were her, I'd go the extra distance and pretend that they're dead to me
why are people so hung up with JP and JH . No one is saying just because she liked him first, you are saying people…
Holy shit it's like talking to a brick wall.... until the episodes come out and the couples are confirmed, all you're doing is speculating. It doesn't matter what other plot you've seen, it doesn't mean this drama will follow that same plot. I'm bored of this childish back and forth, so feel free to make your own comment expressing how much you're not delusional and how everyone else is wrong... adios 👋

The preview proves nothing 😂 until we see the full episode, it's all speculation. The writers have been playing with us since the beginning when they mislead us by implying one thing and showing us another so I don't trust the preview. But if that's where you're getting your JP x YR crumbs from, that's on u...
