My opinion: I really couldn't watch the last 10 episodes... Such an idiotic plot, the ML was a total pocker face, OST was awful... I really need a new Nirvana in Fire or a new Joy Of life fast!!

Yes this is a cultural thing in China even today. You must be very close to call them only by the first name or some kind of a nickname (they usually double the first name like, Lulu for Bai Lu at least for women).
