This is not the kind of romance you might think off .. their feelings for each other are true and yes, he does everything for her but at the same time he's dealing with his identity and trying to come back powerful again to protect her .. he had a lot of favor with the emperor before and his name was very known... But after the whole war and YX scaping he came to be a betrayal to his country
and that in itself is a problem with this adaptation: it does not show sufficiently the whys of each character.…
You can always watch PA... The back flash only gives so much of what happened before ... Rebirth is more about YX getting revenge and his kingdom back and LiCe's story in which it has to do a lot of Qiao and who she becomes later on... About ZY , well you might need to keep watching..lol..I don't want to spoil it
In S1 ... Her mother was high killer with very strong skills and wanted from a lot of people .. specially the emperor... She trained her daughter to get that power before she died.... There's a lot more to it but that's in the drama ..the Novel is different
If you want to understand her character then either watch PA or read the novel. Tho, in the Novel the reason of her been so strong is due to her been time travel from the future she was a high up cop and in the Drama she gets special hidden powers within her ...

I read the novel a long time ago but LiCe's story is one of those stories that u don't forget
Qiao and him are truly best friends, he always had a soft spot for her but he knew her heart was with ZY... On tomorrow's spoiler episode shows him asking Qiao for help to get back his position as a true CP... She does help him at the same time he helps her gain her army back and becomes a general for his country . There's a huge story with all his concubines .. he has a kid with one of them but later she dies.. his father dies, if I remember correctly he gets killed . Later on he is need of a queen and someone to raise his kid... He asks Qiao for the favor so he can give her a title.. (during all of this she meets with ZY and the get together but she goes back to LiCe) she agrees to help him become his queen but on that day his own mother stabs him ... Qiao is really sad and upset and leaves later on with queen title and his son to raise him since those were his last words ( there's more details but that's what I can remember) at the end she goes back to ZY with LiCe's kid and they both raised them together...
