Melodrama with an interesting concept

What if you could tell the future of the person with just a kiss? It seems desirable to have a ‘superpower’ like that... but without any context of the vision you have, It could lead to many misunderstandings.

I do like the concept and base storyline of this drama. I like how the FL character develops - in the past she would live her life based on her visions, which led her to be very miserable. She then realises that her visions might not be exactly how she imagined it to be; she then chooses to live more spontaneously and in the present. Good for her. Subsequently the ML also has a gifting of his own and learns to control it and finds comfort with the FL.

The love relationship between the leads takes awhile to develop , and there is some misunderstanding and lack of communication (typical). However there are some nice skinship and PDA scenes :) Because it’s an office romance, you have the humour and storyline of the colleagues and after work dinners etc.. There’s also the ex-boyfriend factor - his tale was a sad and unfortunate one, but he was matured enough to handle it. The female rival on the other hand was a tad annoying, but nothing overly dramatic. Towards the end the added mystery/ past crime element was a nice touch to the melodrama pace. I liked the two kid actors scenes.

It’s a simple romance story, so watching it gives you a feel -good feeling. Somehow the character of the ML changes when he starts dating her- he becomes more comical and cracking jokes, which I thought was out of character. It wld have been better if he was more aloof and cold on the outside but warm and loving towards her alone. This comic side of him did not bode well.

The OST is nice but I don’t find it very memorable. Didn’t add any of it onto my Spotify playlist :(

Have a go with this one. The FL is the 2FL in Crash Landing On You, very pretty and classy ;)

Annoying love triangle

Imagine one guy- his whole secondary school and now uni life, doting and following around the girl he likes. Does he not have anything else to do? How about study, play sports, get a life, have an ambition??

Then comes the love rival- another guy who also has nothing else to do but follow the girl and try to get close to her like a little puppy. And the FL!! She knows... SHE KNOWS that both guys like her and she’s just stringing them along like a chew toy. The love triangle is sooo annoying. All the friends and roommates are also centred on the FL.. a very boring storyline. I was hoping it would get better. And just when you think the story will improve, the annoying 2ML starts his crazy stalker nonsense again. Seriously, what trash script is this?? I was so done. Enough. I just skipped to the last episode and even that was disappointing.

The music is not memorable at all. Unfortunately I just dropped this. Really not worth your time. NEXT :)

Stop saying Boss Boss!! So annoying

First 10mins of this drama was SO GOOD! It was so intense and got me very interested. The few episodes that followed were good, even the 2nd couple got me wanting for more. But towards episode 15 onwards maybe (can’t remember cos I dropped this about a month ago, only writing the review now;)) it was getting tiresome. Especially with Xiao Ning saying Lao pan, Lao pan in every other sentence! Da*n annoying!!!

Chemistry between leads was poor. I think it’s because Allen Ren is married? He has another new drama with Bai Lu, whom I like; but not sure whether to watch if it’s gonna lack chemistry. I read online he does fake kissing scenes, and they use a stand-in actor if you see the lips touching. And I see that he’s got quite a number of new dramas lined up. I honestly wonder why he’s so popular? Don’t think he’s super good looking, acting skills are stiff and nominal, plus he won’t do kissing scenes and lacks PDA... then how to do romance dramas??

2nd couple had great potential. I initially liked the character Chao Yan for her independence and fighting skills. They also had a great couch kissing scene 😉 But after that, their story got annoying as well, running around in circles.

So yeah... dropped it at Episode 25 (read there was a stupid break-up scene :P after that). Also the styling for Xiao Ning was VERY VERY BAD!!! She goes to an award show in jeans and sweater -face palm! Hair style also sucked. Don’t recommend this at all. BORING

Unexpectedly so good with a beautiful ending :)

This is my first time watching a full drama with Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi. I started both The Untamed and Go go Squid and unfortunately dropped both dramas after a few episodes. I’ve also written a review for GGS.

I absolutely loved this drama! It was very unexpected, both leads really portrayed their characters well. Xiao Zhan is such a good actor! He was able to portray a variety of emotions, very subtle changes in his facial expressions and showing how he adored and fell in love with FL. Yang Zi also portrayed her character very well- cute, bright, brave and outspoken! What annoyed me a little was her hair and how she kept adjusting it ;)

The first few episodes may be a little dry and slow. I suppose the writers needed time to introduce the characters and relationship dynamics in order to build the story from a good base. The pace started getting better and the storyline more engaging when the ML started having feelings for FL. The story development was very good for the main leads, how they first got to know one another, helped each other with problems, falling in love and then the best part- dealing with issues when being in a relationship. Really really very relatable. There were some cliches with love rival, short break up etc.. but the way the FL hunted him down and told him off was one of my favourite scenes!! :):)

Another relationship dynamic that was important in this drama is between father- daughter, and between the family. Be prepared to get annoyed and at the same time crying :( The side couples were not as engaging- it felt more like a filler for the episodes sadly. The last few episodes is a tear- jerker. Be ready with your tissues!! I was wondering how the writers would end it- and I was very very satisfied with the way they did it. (Way better ending than Business Proposal ;))

All in all, I would definitely recommend this. Would love to see a drama with Xiao Zhan and Wu Lei ;) Both very good looking and talented actors. :):):)

A little cringe ;)

Please don’t hate me.. I know a lot of ppl love this drama. To me it just seems a little far fetched for two people who are in their late twenties to be SO awkward and shy with each other.

It’s rather unconventional the way they met, communicated via email, got to know each other, got engaged after only one date... ? And the stealing glances, shyness with skinship etc.. seems more like for those who are 5-10yrs younger. A little too fake and “put on” in my opinion.

It seems Allen Ren plays this kind of role quite often- the rich/ noble/ high ranking man who is either cold/ aloof/ distant... I would just like to see him in a different role/ character please. Bai Lu as always- classy and elegant. She looked so beautiful when she walked in in her QiPao:)

I would advise to watch One and Only first, as there are many references to that drama (and spoilers). For those who didn’t know, Forever and Ever is a sequel to Only and Only in modern times.

Will update my review once I complete this;)
Update: I have decided to drop this! :P Just too slow paced and I just can’t stand the shyness and awkwardness.

Either you like it or you don’t ?

When I started this, it was quite intriguing. A really hateful CEO with people issues; quirky and narcissistic, a very bad temper and is full of himself. Then his personal assistant/ secretary who can’t stand him, but has held on and swallowed her pride for one year for the sake of her job.

How the story unfolds from this to her melt down and threatening him, to his accident, his memory loss, her pretending to be his fiancé etc.. all at the same time the people around him trying to find a way to destroy him and his company. It got quite annoying for me.. I had to FF here and there cos I found some characters just to cliche. It got better from Episode 10 onwards- better in the romance, better in the plot and theories, better overall.

One really good aspect of the drama is the character development of Noh Go Jin (ML). From being such a jerk- to realising all the awful things he had done, how badly he treated his staff and the ppl around him; and how he changed and turned a new leaf. It was really heart-warming to watch.

The final episode was good (at least better than Business Proposal 😭) A nice closure for all the characters involved, and a happy ending. The way the end was written was also sweet and memorable, a nice after taste to all the craziness. “You are my miracle that made me go crazy” 💜

Tire of these storylines.. ?

Here you go… your typical drama where exes return and cause chaos. Don’t these writers get it? It’s 2023.. we want better scripts!!

Started off really well, production is good, actors are good, the first 11 episodes were good. Beautiful storyline where the ML loses his girlfriend 6 years ago, and finally opens up his heart to FL and love again. Then when they introduce the Ex- boyfriend, and how he’s scheming to interfere with not only her personal new relationship with a very charming doctor, he also manipulated her work professionally, being rich and CEO of the company that hires her. Sheesh.. if I were her I wouldn’t take the job. I knew then that this storyline would just go down the drain

So I look to the comments section and true enough, many MANY unhappy viewers. Guess I’m dropping this guys. Too bad :(

Lots of explicit scenes! Lol

It’s an 18+ maturity audience. My first ever Japanese drama- and whoa! I thought the Japanese were quite conservative in this manner??! I guess not! Lots and lots of soft porn scenes, use of tongue, fingers and more.

The storyline is typical- rich wives having different issues with husbands; husbands having affairs or neglecting their wives etc The plots are quite predictable and I did feel for each of the storylines. I also did tear a little at some points.

The ending was somewhat disappointing, cos it felt like she had forgiven her ex-abusive, unfaithful husband to help him rebuild the company they both started together. No no no.. a big FAT NO! Did not and could not agree with the last 10mins. If she had embraced her freedom, left him to rot, cut all ties and started her own business - that would have been correct. Forgive him- yes, but help him get back on his feet? No.

If you’ve never watched a Jdrama, give it a try. It’s a good insight to how poorly Japanese women are treated in their culture. Sad to say.

Very relatable… and yet so draggy!

Everything in this drama is relatable- especially if you’re in your twenties, a working adult trying to survive on your own in this world.

The basic plot of working, trying to climb the corporate ladder to earn more money, get a higher position, buying a house, getting married etc.. it’s all included in this storyline. BUT.. the pace of how it’s unfolding is SO SLOWWWW ;) Could have probably finished the story in just 10 episodes. I’ve been watching the whole thing at 1.5x speed ;):)

There’s the office politics, workplace discrimination, society standings discrimination, family background discrimination, education discrimination.. and the list goes on. It’s really sad if this is all true in Korean culture. One of the side characters broke up with his ex of 4 years, to marry someone of his “social standing” and immediately had an affair w his ex because he just couldn’t get over her. Why marry in the first place?

The chemistry and intensity in the leads relationship is very evident though, and I like it. Very very slow burn, but we get a really good kiss scene at the end of Ep 10 ;) At this point, I’m wondering why don’t they just get together already?? Whatever was stopping them before doesn’t seem that important now. Both leads decided to start relationships with other ppl, but it turns out those were not working out either! It’s interesting because this main relationship is not your typical fall-in-love story, but rather is them cheating on their respective partners (although for me I don’t find it cheating really. )

Let’s see how the story unfolds. I sincerely hope they have a happy ending :)

Update: just completed this. The last 4 episodes were terrible. It was a drag and painful to just complete it. What started off as 7.5 has now dropped to a 6. I wouldn’t recommend this drama. Too complicated and a waste of time

Absolutely loved it!

Although I was disappointed with two things. Will get to that at the end of this review.
A drama about the Kpop industry- the companies that “own” them, and the struggles they go through to become stars/ idols. First 3 episodes were boring, but it did pick up after that. The storyline was I guess what many trainees and idols have to endure these days- controlling companies and managers, being overworked, fanatic and obsessive fans, peer pressure and competitiveness between teammates, dating issues etc.. it’s kinda sad really that these celebrities don’t have or are not allowed to have their own personal life or freedom.

I did enjoy the dance performances by Shax and Sparkling- I thought Lee Jun Young who played the ML Kwon Ryoc was an excellent dancer, a class above the rest. His voice also was really good. I particularly enjoyed his jealousy moments :P which I found hilarious. Unfortunately I found the FL to be somewhat a disappointment. She was cute and all but I found her character lacked depth and gust. The outstanding female character would be La Ri-Ma, who we all hate in the first few episodes, but she redeems herself as the show moves along, looking out for her juniors and standing up for herself.

Now come the two disappointing factors:
1) The romance. I liked the initial tug and pull between the leads. Especially coming from Kwon Ryoc, I could feel the intensity and chemistry, the times when he said he missed her and wanted to see her. However after they started dating, it lacked PDA, and their two kissing scenes were, sorry to say, quite pathetic lol. Imagine sitting on a bench with your bf/gf, gazing at the stars and you are seated like 3 feet away from each other! I mean what the??!! The other couples also lacked any real connection and chemistry.

2) What happened to CEO Park? Was he still able to remain at his post after the email was released etc? And after Shax left NOG? I’m also not sure which company Shax ended up signing with- was it JH Entertainment? It was kinda rushed and unclear.

If you’re a Kpop fan, I reckon you might enjoy this. Not a real romance drama, more about growing up and discovering yourself. There are some life lessons to take from this, and an eye-opener for those who are clueless about the industry. Enjoy :)

Definitely different and interesting. :)

I was very intrigued with the storyline. Definitely not the typical Chinese drama storylines- overbearing CEO/ rich man poor girl/ accidental fall on you & kisses etc.. I’m also glad their voices were not dubbed. Production wise, it was well done.

For the first half I would have given it a 9 or 9.5? But towards the last 6 episodes, it sort of waned and kept repeating its vicious cycle. Was a little annoyed by then and Xu Guanghan aka the bad guy was just getting on my nerves. I was disappointed in the last episode- the way he was arrested and how the truth was revealed. It was too fast, didn’t have any impact on the audience whatsoever, and I felt it wasn’t revealed enough just how sinister the bad guy was.

Hmmm I felt some characters were overly done- Xu Guanghan was one, grandma Fushun another, and Jiang Kele ( she overacted way too much- I just didn’t like it).

The best characters I liked were Xu Nian and Gu Qianya. They were also the best couple. Both were matured, intelligent and looked very good together :) I also loved their outfits and style. I have to admit- I’m biased towards Zhang Linghe- he’s so good looking esp dressed in turtle necks and long overcoats; and I loved him in Maiden Holmes as well. (Must watch!)

Lu xiao (acted by He Luo Luo) was ok... he was just a pretty face ;) but he could dance quite well (just some small parts). He’s from a Chinese boy group called R1SE. He and Jiang Kele were the main couple- but I didn’t really enjoy their story or chemistry. It was rather plain and boring.

All in all, I would recommend this to watch, as it’s quite different and you will enjoy all the handsome actors :)

Could have been better ?

The opening was great- very promising storyline, actors were good.. then in the middle it got rather melodramatic, going in circles.. then the last two episodes were just boring. Mediocre ending. Yep, that’s it.

The FL seemed like a pretty good actress at the start, and her character was strong and assertive. But the chemistry between her and Ji Han was somewhat lacking .. and their kiss was a little cringe to watch hahaha. Her character development was just dull and mundane towards the end. I found her family annoying too.

The ML is quite cute, I predict he will have more lead roles and do well in the future ;)

Revenge in slow mo? ;)

I had zero expectations starting this drama. I thought it was a romance between an older woman and cha eun woo ;););) boy was I so wrong!! lol

So it’s basically a revenge drama- a young boy dies and the mother kills the person who did it. But there is so much more layers underneath this onion of a story… I do like all the twists and plots; I do like the storyline and how it unfolded; I do NOT like how the bad guy always seems to win until the very last 20mins of the final episode, then the writers rush through his downfall; I do NOT like all the slow motion scenes, walking here and there, crying, crying and more crying, repeat this and that scene… could have done with a lot lot less of those.

Cha eun woo as a villain!! Well … initially a villain then a great guy. He did well for this drama 👏🏼👏🏼 give him a chance- ep11 showed his true acting skills! Some reviewers are saying the FL is too stiff and robotic- that’s prob because of all the Botox 😅 I liked the husband though- he looks good 😍

All in all pretty well worth the watch. I did forward quite a lot when they talked too slow.. haha.

More of a healing drama

I don’t like storylines where a person is falsely accused of some misdeed or misconduct, and the public suddenly turns against them so fast without concrete evidence and without knowing the full story, quick to judge. And the victim has no way to vindicate herself- I which I find incredulous it being 2024 with all its advance tech etc…

Anyhow, so ya. That’s how the story goes for our FL to run away back to her hometown. It’s very much a healing drama, so there will be lots of crying. I would say the main underlying ripple here would be the issue of unforgiveness, which involves not only the main leads but the families as well. The comedy and supporting cast are not too bad, I was able to watch without ff too much ;)

The romance and chemistry is not so evident. So if you’re looking for that then you will be disappointed. Both actors did a great job though, and I’ve like Ji Chang Wook since Healer, but his other dramas after were not so promising.

All in all this was a pretty good watch. Just get ready those tissues!

Side characters were funny

I don’t usually take to k-Humour… but I found this drama quite funny;) Kudos especially to the side characters- the office colleagues, the two assistants and the Wild Dogs gang! Amidst the dark, mystery thriller plot, their light -heartedness and slapstick comedy made it quite enjoyable.

Of course the visuals of both Song Kang and Kim You Jung speaks for itself, and their chemistry was quite believable. Stylist did a good job with his and hers outfits and hair.

Some of the underlining storyline and character roles were a little confusing, and it can be a little scary with some scenes. All in all it was a good watch.
