I am amazed how the writers managed to flip the plot with one drunken kiss, needless to say FL overreacted and had thousand ways to tell him without directly speaking to him but She insisted on following the flawed strategy and now hates the current status quo. The ML is right on his side to believe that she used him as ladder to climb higher ranks and now she has crown prince on her side, so she is dumping him for bigger benefactor. I just hope that writers don't use this opportunity to advance "separation leads to development of romantic affair" narrative. The FL is young right now and will have plenty of time in latter part of the story to play ML waifu, I just hope Evil-Queen hatch some plan and make things interesting again.
I just freaking love their banter and it's kinda refreshing to see "Military General" is not portrayed as brute with no brain in this drama. He saved her by using his intelligence and She understood that it was her fault cuz She gave them a excuse to target her.
I am loving it so far and the element of realism in the story is noteworthy, the FL is smart and have good banter with ML, which have turned into friendship and will lead into romance. Its better than stupid tropes in other C-Drama's where FL trips over absolutely nothing and lands in ML arms and "Lord behold" now they are in deep love.

Go Ahead (2020) but its not a typical rom-com and it will make you cry, feel emotions for characters and much more. Lighter & Princess (2022) if you are looking for a lighter drama with good story and character development...(it has uni theme) Love Like the Galaxy it lives-up to its hype. The story of Ming-Lan (2018) its an underdog and deserves better ratings, even the side characters have better story than a lot of main-leads. Dr-Romantic (season 2-3) its pretty good but take it with huge grain of salt cuz I am doc and may be biased towards it.

"To me, the way ML deals with his mistakes is extraordinary for a drama because I’ve never seen any drama tackle it like they have." I was responding to your argument, you like character development with grey characters (people that make mistakes and learn from them) and I was saying, even within the confines of your statement....this is below average. You may not believe it but we have similar taste in drama's, I also hate 1 IQ jerks in Asian drama's, who never learns any lesson and continue to be jerk "through and through" but that being said, even within the confines of your statement. King the land deserves nothing above 7 cuz there are legendary gems like "GoAhead". If you love chemistry+ good story, then you can watch "Love is sweet" or any other Bai-Lu drama after 2019. again I am not attacking or belittling you, these are just some recommendations from fellow mdl user.
