ML enemy is FL, and he is investigating her past but if SML ends being an Emperor, his actions and rebellion will be justified and ML will be the traitor general, who sided with the old court.
FL is SML main leading general, and she may very well lead the rebellion. So they will be on opposite sides and according to novel readers, SML will inherit the throne and hence all his past actions will be justified.
According to previews to main culprits, Prince Sui and ML maid may be killed tomorrow by FL faction !

Fair enough and I know there a lot of women who can judge with common sense cuz I am in relationship with one and has been around alot of them in my life. That's one of the reasons, I am annoyed and shocked by behaviour like this but its getting into dangerous territory. Judging from the trajectory of the story, current trends of 2024, dysphoria of Fl, public perception, majority of audience demands, character bias and nullification of one-character achievements. I can say with 70-80% assurity, it's going to happen and judging by their speed. We can further calculate that, there is 50-60% chance, it will happen in ep 24 !

but to all those people saying in my earlier comments, FL was out there for revenge and investigation, and she didn't choose SML and her bandit lifestyle over ML, here you go and just like I said, SML will disrespect and humiliate ML right in front of FL for being un-manly and FL will just stand there and do nothing. I get it, there are not married or in relationship and it was ML one sided love and wishful thinking. It's her life, her decision and FL owes him nothing but y'all need to stop giving justification for her actions.
This is not her hidden plan or anything, she just left him PERIOD, that's the end of it and ML should move on too and deal with issues at hand "Court, Empress Dowager and upcoming rebellion. That being said, I can give y'all another statement. SML will make ML life miserable/ difficult by creating problems in the court and even attempt to kill/assassinate him, not only will FL just stand there and watch SML do that to him. She will join in and hurt him, and ML will just stand there and take it like a SIMP. Why may you ask?
because he has not reached the true epitome or Zen-hood of the simp's, after which his grovelling becomes one with the universe and he ascends to the lvl of Simp Deity, and he gains ability to channel the trash/simp energy of all the simps in past, present and future....so, that he can grovel even more !

I have tried to explain this logic multiple times in different dramas but have been called every name in the book by majority female audience. They are NEVER EVER going to listen, and you will start gona get angry at people for their obviously ridiculous takes. Afterwards, you will start lashing out at people and it's not good for you or your mental health.
Take this drama for instance, ML as a general lying to traitor and bandit is CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY in these people eyes, while ML saving her life is nothing. These people say it's his job and somehow, they use some wired ass formula in their mind in which, saving someone's life, healing their severe injuries and not taking advantage of them is less than if not equal to lying to her (while female character is doing exactly the same now to other party).

Remember one simple rule here, if Man commits a minor mistake like lying "he is asshole and committed extreme crime" but if woman, openly cheated for more than 20 years, emotional torture and then killed the ML "She was just confused and has reasons, justifications".
So, the point I am trying to make here is stop caring about these phenomena in Asian dramas and do what's best for you. You can try to be good guy and explain properly with reasons all day long but after some time, you will be exhausted, and you will get angry...so do what's best for you and stop caring.

This drama has been ended a month ago but still its in-airing list, can someone knowledgeable put it out of its misery and remove it from the list. The next part will take months if not year to air but still somehow its present here !
