If you know Mandarin, you will see that the investor's Mandarin isn't great either. She has a weird accent. I…
They could have solved the weird Mandarin AND the weird English with dubbing by people who can actually speak English/good Mandarin. Don't they dub with voice actors all the time anyway? Not sure why they had to have her terrible English in there. π
Strong third episode. The romcom is really romcoming. So far all three adults main characters are really likable.…
I already think they have great chemistry. The bickering about her "other half," and their interactions at the vet. Very cute.
Bo Hyun's character is just very endearing already. @Ivy's description of him adding the himbo to the Kdrama ML archetype as a new addition was so accurate. He's handling the comedy really well, too.
Everyone has a misconception of Jae Gyu and is prejudiced. Maybe a satirical social commentary.Iβm having so…
Quite fun! KSH is great in it, and it's very cozy. The end gets a bit angsty, and some cringy aegyo when the leads start dating, but besides that it's solid.
I'm sorry. But a teacher staying in the same hotel room as their opposite gender student is a total NO GO. Even if his uncle is there, too! π π€¦ββοΈ (If anything, it makes things even worse!)
Just find another hotel!!
The scenario gives me the shivers just thinking about it. π«£
This was a lot of fun. I think it's spades better than Vincenzo, but I guess having Song Joong Ki made it more…
I also had quite the soft spot for Hwang Cheol Beom by the end. He was a scumbag, but not as shameless as those ordering him around, and it's clear he had a conscience.
I'd like to imagine he's next on Father Kim's hitlist for a redemption arc.π
This was a lot of fun. I think it's spades better than Vincenzo, but I guess having Song Joong Ki made it more high profile and so he rose that drama to more fame (also, they are VERY similar shows, and while Fiery Priest is about getting justice, Vincenzo is about revenge).
It took me longer to warm up to this drama, but once I did, it was really enjoyable with a super endearing cast. They laid the groundwork very well for all the team dynamics later, and I found the characters more lovable in this than Vincenzo (the pacing was also good in this, and I'm just a huge sucker for growth/redemption arcs).
I also found this one funnier; the three leads had fabulous comedic timing, with Dae Yeong being an absolute goofball, and Lee Honey shrieking right and left with the most obnoxious Korean I've ever heard. π (she turned out awesome, though, despite the craziness). Loved finding out everyone's backstories and seeing how they were used to help the team bring down the corrupt baddies.
The representation of Christian theology was highly questionable, but I think it largely got the spirit of the thing right. π My favorite quote:
"Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future" (apparently original to Oscar Wilde, but very apt for this drama).
This quote revels a thread throughout the drama for almost every single major character (on Team Father Kim)--how do we receive grace and forgiveness for wrongs we've committed that make us feel worthless, and which make our world feel meaningless? Can we be forgiven and restored from what feels like irreversible mistakes? Our characters wrestle with these questions, each in their own way. And the drama's answer is deeply hopeful and edifying: YES! (this is what I mean by the spirit of the thing (in this one sense) being got right) In the most unexpected and irreverent way possible, Father Kim leads the way, and inspires those around him to hope, to risk, and to come into their own.
I didn't feel the lack of romance in this at all, either--the camaraderie is more than enough to satisfy and entertain!
A good watch; very much recommended if you like humor and action rolled into one experience. π Enjoy!
The initial excitement about the ML's tattoo reminds me of the energy from a group of friends at a party getting excited that the teetotaller in their group decided to down a shot... only to discover the drink was a mocktail after all! ππ
If you haven't watch the original this should be great drama for you. People are being negative because somehow…
The ML in the original also interacted with the FL (as adults) in an unhealthy way (very possessive, clingy, needy, and unable to function without FL; the guy went through a lot to he sure, but he needed therapy, not a girlfriend). His character was more of a red flag than the lead in this remake, for sure.
thank you, very helpful!!! Maybe post under the discussion section for more visibility?
oh good, I'm glad!
I need to do that, but I use the app most often and can't access that part of the page using the app for some reason so I haven't done it yet. I'll have to add it when I have my laptop out and remember to move it over there. π
This screenwriter is known for love triangles, but an added twist in this is, while you know the FL ends up with Ki Ho, the screenwriter writes it so that you don't know which brother is Ki Ho until Episode 8 (you might guess it beforez though; I did), so if you fall for the wrong brother (or picture the wrong one with the FL), then some people find this drama frustrating.
It gave me comic book vibes througbout even though it was set in a "realistic" historical setting.
It's not the boys I'm worried, or what any of them would do, but about what would happen if people found out. π¬
You just don't put yourself in these positions as a teacher unless you want to go to jail. π€¦ββοΈ
I know it was played as a gag here, but hard to not π¬ while watching...

The answer to your second question:
Yes!
