I noticed this too, but that make the scenes there so much lively for some reason or maybe it's just me. Every once in a while, those candles grab my attention.
Everyone in the comments is so much bothered about the side characters, I totally understand your point. But for me, fl and ml's part literally covers it all up. I just feel they are just so balanced at moments that even the annoying characters fade into the background as soon as they leave the screen, my sole focus is on the two of them...
