There is something about him that oozes a great villain energy, though. I'm currently watching the Blood of Youth,…
TBOY is actually the first drama I saw him as a villain. If you want to see him play a goofy antagonist who can’t be an antagonist who’s more like comic relief you should watch love of the divine tree. If you want to see him in a protagonist role kind of as a rival to the ML you should check out the wanted detective. He’s also in a short vertical drama that I saw as a protagonist, but one that’s tough as nails so there are a few choices for you. But yeah, he’s villain incarnate and I just hope he doesn’t get typecast as one.
Royal princess thing just has to be where she gets to choose as does he. Hopefully no third wheels for anyone.
And we meet again here, fellow LOTR fan! 😄 I just started this drama and I’m now invested. Not sure yet if…
Yes, exactly. I think I’ve only been able to take her in one other drama from last year and that was guardians of the Dafeng with Dylan Wang. But here she’s like a completely different person so if this keeps up the way novel readers have said, even though we’ve already deviated according to a friend something like 30% from the novel, we should be OK. Catch up and enjoy.
What are ppl expecting? Marriage and babies at episode 10 out of 40? 🤦🏻♀️
Good! I always go into every single drama with zero expectations that way if it’s good awesome and if it isn’t, then I’m not disappointed. I either drop it or I watch it till the end. Maybe skip some episodes along the way, but I don’t let that type of thing disappoint me. I learned that many many years ago. Even my most anticipated dramas if they fall short; well it is what it is. 😊

Yes hello! Or should I say Mae Govannen (not sure if I spelled that right lol). I’m watching for the ML and am not a fan of the roles this particular FL usually plays but this one is totally different; she’s a kickass take names gal but still knows how to care and be kind. Show is about to reach both hit heat indexes on IQIY and Tencent and that’s no small feat. Have you gotten caught up?

I wouldn’t call her brave, she’s just blunt but these types of dramas either you like them or you hate them just like whatever every other drama I’m not entirely sure by episode six what she expected this to be with 40 episodes? As long as it doesn’t start to drag somewhere in the 20s as many shows do, I think this drama is on pace to be quite good especially with all the little developments not just the main storyline but the sub plots as well.

I agree with you character development must happen. You can’t just be thrown into the middle of a drama and run to catch up to the characters that have already developed and you have no idea where to start. I’ve seen dramas like that and they annoy the crap out of me. Start somewhere obviously they have lives in the past that you see and stuff but you learn and they develop more in front of you and they do it at a good pace.
Not this time. Sometimes listening to him talk about some of his characters. Yes, he does lie through his teeth. A lot of us found out when he decided to play the villain from the cast of a journey to love and say that everybody survived and it was a happy ending when they literally obliterated everybody. But in this case for him, it was just to gain experience in a character he’s never tried before and be in a modern drama since it’s only his second so I say he did great with both of those goals.
First, thank you for your incredible insight and filling in the gaps for us viewers! I appreciate your efforts…
You’re very welcome. Hopefully eventually, I will get back to review writing so though not this drama future ones will get those. And I enjoyed our conversations in regards to the drama as well. I do honestly think that this show suffered a lot because of the choppy editing and what looked like deleted scenes so possible that when it went for review, they chopped off episodes hence production had to scramble and edit best way they could. Clothing and phone product placement was very noticeable, also smaller budget.
DK always enters with a flair of villain. This time gray hair and all. His lethal ability just oozes off him. I’ll have to remember his character’s name lol. I do like when he plays protagonists though; don’t get typecast buddy. It’ll be interesting when he squares off against our main man if only just chatting. The difference between lethality is awesome.
Also guessing royal princess and our headmaster dude will be another couple.
Mr. Zhao is telling Mrs. Zhao to chill and not cause issues meanwhile our main man stabs and beats the ever loving crap out of fatso for harming his woman even a little. Good! Hope fatso is finally taken care of once and for all. Also hope LHA becomes an ally to ML. Them fighting and working together would be awesome!
Oh, I see what you’re talking about. I saw the studio reposting a lawyer letter from a law firm when I looked through Weibo I didn’t know what it was about but now it makes sense so shouldn’t worry; the lawyers will get the trolls.
So after skimming and jumping and skipping through 25 and 26 early in the morning, I got a chance to really look through it with a lot more detail now in the afternoon and I finished it and my rating is an 8.5 because the story the entire time had been great, but the rushed ending and the fact that guest roles had proper exiting. Then our leads who had like a minute and a half was pretty ridiculous as well as FL transposing her own insecurities onto ML and him apologizing for it which I think was BS. I think they should’ve spent most of episode 26 on the main couple but we do get comical gong and ML moments just like we did in the beginning. I really wish that bitch Street gang did not get their own little version of redemption because they did not deserve it considering how many people they used just to bring the FL down when we find out that pimp‘s husband wanted to divorce her for a while so now we know the truth about that as well as the broken music box and that technically father‘s other family came before hers not the other way around as she had thought all her life. She really should have apologized to the ML for putting him through so much; but I guess coming back together and wearing her engagement ring was her way in the last few moments of the gang back together again as the director made a cameo with Gong’s comic becoming a short film is just that. I fast forwarded all the people whose little exits I didn’t want to know about. The voiceover by the FL does talk a lot about the complexities of love, but there was a lot of right and wrong, especially a lot of wrong in this story of love because if I had written a review, I would’ve called it an unconventional deep dive into the world of love.
Sadly, this is LYN‘s last filmed series so we won’t be getting one or rather another one this year and I don’t know about next year but at least he’s got his album, concerts, and two variety shows that will pop out on we TV this year wow the world season two and the truth season four so look out for those. But don’t despair about him and this character he wanted to play someone completely different that he had never played before and this is only his second modern drama and he achieved it. Maybe not to how much screen time we would’ve wanted for him, but I think with some of the choppy editing it could have also been cut episode wise during review so that’s a possibility. But he always talks about things in his live streams, which are translated on X and when he spoke about this role, he said he just wanted more experience and he got it so it’s a win for him.
Because my review writing is on hiatus I will not be writing one for this drama so you guys can take it away if you wish. Thank you to all of you. Who chatted with me in this comment section and I look forward to seeing you in future dramas. Stay blessed. 😇
P.S. Was really surprised that other than the last episode which has obvious time skips and things; the rest of the show’s timeline was only 6 months! Talk about breakneck speed relationships lol!
So am I. He wanted the role for a different take on things. A totally different character and he got exactly what he wanted. So not a total loss and other then the rushed and messy ending with little time for him it was a good show.
