However, I ended up reading it in Chinese, so I can’t totally vouch for it. I think there are a bunch of less well translated English versions out there too though. Enjoy!

I have yet to watch this. Does it have an unresolved unhappy ending? I am not sure i have it in me to start another…
My suggestion (which is what I did) is to watch The On1y One and then follow with reading the novel from Chapter 60 to the end. You really can pick up where the show leaves off. The main change that's relevant to know is that Zhao Xi and Benny are already together from the beginning. The novel does have a happy ending.
Well, there are plans to make a season 2 and if it's made, you'll get 12 new episodes 😉It's not certain yet,…
I know, it’s frustrating to only have half the story. It’s an adaptation from a novel and follows the novel closely enough to actually pick up the novel at the end of the 12th episode to finish the story. So, the rest of the story exists (and is good!) and I believe I heard the script has already been written for season 2. From what I remember from an interview with the director is that he wanted to film it altogether, but they weren’t given enough money for it. He was basically told —let’s see how season 1 does and if it goes well, then we can film the rest of it.
Unless they planned this to be the first part of a two-part story, this feels like wasted potential. 12 eps, each…
It’s based on a novel. This is only the first half of the novel. I remember hearing that the director had wanted to film it altogether, but they were only given enough funding to film the first season and were given a “let’s see how it does” message to determine whether it gets a second season to finish it out. I believe the script is even already written for Season 2. I definitely recommend finishing out by reading the novel (drama ends at the end of Chapter 59). Fingers crossed that they get to film the rest.
Only sort of. It feels like a snapshot/slice out of these two people's lives, so it feels a little unfinished.
I think it depends on what you mean by romance. It's a slow burn. I describe it as a coming-of-age love story. So, there is very definitely a love story. I remember reading someone describing it as a story about people falling in love. That feels accurate. And it's unfinished, so it really is just about that because it never finishes. I recommend following it with the novel for a more complete story. Drama ends at the end of Chapter 59. Hope that helps!
